I'm trying to gather intell as I type, but all that is known now is that our brave and caring president has ordered troops "Off the vcoast of Liberia" Are they en route? Will they sit in the water until another order is givin? We shall see in due time.

Apparently we're sending a small team in as peacekeepers, but will be there only to support a "vanguard" group of African troops who, for all purposes, will probably be doing the majority of the grunt work.

They're promising that our forces won't be there long. I sincerely hope they hold true to that. I'm for sending a small group as peacekeepers, but we don't want to be there long term.

It is a repeated statement by presidents everytime there is a peacekeeper mission. Don't expect the our troops to back for a while.

Well one correction. It's a peacemaking operation, not peacekeeping. Very different. And I dont care what they say about that either, if there is isnt peace, you cant keep peace, you gotta make peace first. And Marines planning an amphibious landing isnt exactly saying its peaceful there.

wait...who are we supporting in Liberia at the moment? the warlord-turned-leader (and soon to be ousted leader) or the rebel forces? or are we just staying neutral?

Apparently, even as our president was contemplating how many to send and when to send them, our embassy there was attacked. Naturally, things had to be stepped up.

Between this and your Brian Dehenney joke in the other thread, I must offer some constructive criticism: please work on your material.
