I admit, this snuck up on me. Did anyone else hear that the situation was that bad there? With Bush's penchant for intervention now, is there little doubt that we will become involved? We already had/have troops in the Phillipines hunting "terrorists", so is it in the US's interests to maintain stability in Manila? Discuss...

The Philipines, Indonesia and other islands/nations in the region have been serious strongholds for Al Queda and other likeminded terrorist cells for the better part of a decade now. Anything that destabalizes one of these governments and may allow these groups more freedom or to actually seize power is NO GOOD.
