I never said you guys couldn't or shouldn't call.
I just took issue with all the guys who thought that NY callers not being able to call was what was making the show "not funny", because their underlying (Or often overt) feelings were that the DC callers sucked and could never be as good. I was taking a general shot at THOSE sentiments, and I apologize if you took it as a shot at YOU. Yes, I DID bust your balls a couple posts back because I can't help it when someone gets THAT defensive. If you want to call, call. I don't care who calls when where or how. I usually have no clue where anyone is calling from to begin with. Why SHOULD I care? It doesn't affect my life one way or another. Again, I'm sorry if you thought I was slamming just YOU. I wasn't. It IS a little annoying that a lot of you guys (And yes, you ARE included in this, no matter how altruistic this thread started off being) think you need to call in and "save" the show. No matter what your intentions are, it can't help but come off as ANYTHING but condescending. I trust you can at least kinda see how that may be for the rest of us down here.

It obviously bothers you that some of us want a number that non-DC'ers can call on. But thats right, you don't care where the callers are from. (Yeah, right)

...is all a little too crazy and bordering on paranoia since I NEVER said anything even remotely close to ANY of this. Feel free to check any of my posts if it'll make you feel better. What DOES annoy me and I'm fed up with is the notion, unspoken or otherwise, that the old callers somehow "made" the show and that the show "sucks" now because those callers are gone. I'll readily admit that by the time the show left WNEW the NY callers were far, FAR "better" than most of the current DC callers. But that was after a few years of establishing a cult following, getting plenty of regulars. Things take time. I know you know this, you've said it yourself. Up until last year R&F was on at 11 PM here, and to most normal people radio might as well not even exist at that time. Things will come around...personally, I think the show has been hilarious for nearly a month now. But maybe that's just me.
Look, I'm just bugged at how a lot of the old listeners talk like someone needs to "save" the show, because the very clear implication of that is that it needs to be saved from ME and my fellow DC/VA/MD listeners. You HAVE to understand how after a while, no matter HOW it's presented, it's going to get pretty insulting and annoying. It's only natural. We're all fans of the show, yet people talk like those of us that listen "down here" are out to actually make the show worse. I'm not saying that's what YOU'VE been doing, but there IS a lot of it going around, and that's not cool.
