mac vs pc, let the stupid debate continue

so i get into a nerd war with a couple designers at work yesterday, dicussing this subject. the were uber-mac, while i defended pc's. now i work on a mac at work and use a pc at home. price-wise and stability are my reasons for liking pc's.

blah blah, we went back and forth on specs, and here's the stumper: i asked when's the last they used a pc. it was years for all of them.

so why mac?

honestly it's an operating system debate. i could give my reasons, pro & con, but i just want to find out why mac users are mac users.

I've heard that graphic artists like the subtle diffrences in programs like Photoshop on the Mac over the PC. I do have to say that Photoshop had a few small differences that were better on the Mac. Like taking a menu by it's tab, and putting it on the side of the screen to access at will.

As a graphic artist I used Macs and PCs regularly, I learned to use PCs first and PCs have always been more natural for me to use than Macs, but on some small levels the Mac is actually a superior computer. Also in answer to Mdr, there is a distinct difference between Macs and PCs, they may act the same as a PC with regards to websites and the internet but there are major differences, from the operating systems, to the languages, to the technologies. Macs were the first true plug and play system, and also really the first to have a windows style system, so a lot of things on the Mac were a lot easier to install and use than PCs were. That has changed over the years though, as Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98 gradually have made things much easier in many ways. I'd say at this point PCs are superior in many ways overall.

Though Macs still have advantages in graphic arts, in programs such as Photoshop, where the mac still handles memory better than PCs.

Overall though I have a PC and I've had Macs, I still have a PowerMac and if I see an Apple store in the malls I like to take a look at the systems to see where they're at, but I personally like the PC best. Windows is more natural for me, probably because I've used it for so long though. I can operate a Mac, but PCs just look and feel better for me. I'm sure there's Mac users who feel the opposite though.

i'm a mac user because I'm used to macs. i've been using apple since the IIc came out. Now I've been using pc's all the while too, at work. I'm just comfortable with a mac. The only real advantage is Safari.

As for stability, I've never had a problem with my G4 or my old G3.

But for web shtuff and games, nothing beats my PC.

So I have both.
