View Full Version : Are these tourist spots?

During my travels, I usually pick up phamplets (in the airport/rest area/hotels) promoting different tourist spots and places of interest.
When I was at the airport recently I picked up several phamplets re: the NY area. And to my surprise there were phamplets promoting the Toys R Us and McDonalds in Times square. Now I ask you, are these toursit spots? Do tourists come to NYC to visit these places? I haven't been to either of these places yet. If any of you have please let me know how the "Experience" was for you.
Also, I picked up some phamplets promoting Keyport and Freehold, NJ as tourist destinations. I have cousins in these places and I asked them about it and they were really surprised. Here's what they said, "Huh, what's there to see here, it's boring". That's why they go to NYC alot.
Has anyone else seen brocheres/phamplets promoting places as tourist spots/ places of interest that make you do a double take? Thanks.

I don't know about McDonald's but that Toys R Us is definitely an attraction. It is not like some run of the mill Toys R Us. They have a "life-size" dinosaur (if there ever was such a thing) that moves its head, opens its mouth, moves around a bit, and works up to an unexpectedly loud and way open-jawed ROAR. Very fun.
And there is a huge Barbie 2-floor doll house, containing all Barbie-related stuff, and a thing on the floor that when you step on it, it does stuff, there are about 8 different kinds of stuff to be done. You have to be there for that one, I cannot explain it enough to do it justice.
And there is a huge Ferris wheel, with the cars as toys (i.e. Fisher-Price car, Barbie Jeep, Little Tikes car, etc.). And Candyland, where they have candy.
I think I will start a walking tour.

Well I will let NY-ers speak for NY.
But in the Smithsonian's National Museum of American Art, I saw James Hampton's Throne.
If the Throne for the return of Jesus exists, this is it. I was gonna tell R+F to go see it one day, but one has to be careful, as many people who see it, at first, burst into tears.
I think I've taken about 100 photos of it just myself.
There's a book and a movie to be made about Hampton's Throne, so loudly does it cry out.
But nobody's listening.

I think the beaches on Long Island are a huge tourist attraction. I like to go to the beach and watch the fish disintegrate.

Why is that, I've never seen it except for pictures. Is it the beauty of it, or the story behind it, or the religious factor of it?

Now your just freaking me out. lol. :80:

If you go to NY, you have to visit Time Square. And if you're visiting Time Square, you might aswell visit the toys r us and mcdonnalds.

Yea, that's what I think. If there arent needles washed up, you really should visit it. If you want a nice breeze and small waves, go to lido beach, but all the fun is at Jones Beach (extremely crowded every fucking day). They have big waves and your trip should be a party.

Nope.
Ground Zero, Empire State building, Times Square (the area itself), Rockefeller Center, Radio City, Central Park, Museum, stuff like that. Tourist spots.

Since I live about 25 minutes from Manhatten, I visit a lot It's never really like a formal visit. I've only visited The Empire State building twice, Ellis Island, and I've been down Wall Street (smelled like shit!). And this was with family from Arizona. Every time I go, I really have somthing to do, rather than time to spend and see tourist spots..
