Has anyone heard their new song "Weak and Powerless" from their upcoming album, Thirteenth Step? The song is really awesome and it seems like the cd will be awesome as well. I wondered if anyone has heard the song and/or shares my thoughts.

O, and does anyone know where I can download the song from other than Kazaa, cuz Kazaa screws up my computer too much. thanks.

Haven't heard it, but thanks for letting me know it's out. I'm a big APC fan, and while I knew the 2nd album was coming out this fall, I wasn't aware that any singles were going to be released this early.

If you run Bitorrent you can DL it

here (http://www.suprnova.org)

but if you want a quick listen it's on their website:

Weak & Powerless (http://www.aperfectcircle.com/)

This cd was supposed to be out last November but in lue of the Tool tour and all the side projects the other members are in it was pushed back.

It's going to be really hard to follow up Mer De Noms but im sure this bunch can pull it off easily.

I hate perfect circle. nothing against them, except its tool. call it that, or better yet just stay tool. but if maynard is singing, it shouldnt be allowed to be called anything but tool cause it all sounds like that anyway

Tool and A Perfect Circle do not sound at all similar.

Not even the vocals, suprisingly.

yea, i guess, but i just dont like that its not tool. and when i hear it, i still know it can only be maynard that sounds like that. i also in general dont usually like when an artist or artists from a group do side projects. if you wanna do something else, fine, if not, fine. but put your energy into one so they are your full talent. i think it detracts from the quality when he is writing for 2 bands or something

I disagree completely.

Why can't Maynard have a side project? If anything, Mer de Noms showed that he CAN do two things and still put out music of extraordinary quality.

I don't see how you can *hate* APC. APC & Tool are essentially just two sides of the same coin, although they have very complex differences.

I'm very much looking forward to the new album - alas, though, I mourn the loss of Paz. Like she's REALLY better off with Billy.

Goddamnit.

EDIT - forgot to add this:

I really, really, REALLY wish Trent would get off his goddamn ass and quit wasting his fucking time with Zach de la Rocha, and finally finish Tapeworm.

I've been waiting for YEARS now, Trent. Get your shit together.

the part about the side project was in general. though i admit, perfect circle is better than most side projects, in general they lead to lesser quality music from both than the one originally had. though i do give credit to maynard for making them both good, i think tool would be even better if there was no perfect circle

One hit wonder much??

Who, Billy? Er...

Zwan is alright in my book. Good time happy fun. Rock, straight up. Works for me.

And I heard James Iha ended up in A Perfect Circle, so doesn't that even everything out?

Se7en, Trent hasn't worked with De La Rocha in almost a year. He was only producing like three songs on the album. Zach has been working with DJ Shadow since then, and the song they put out, "Drums of Death", rocks my goddamn ears off into the next county.

Can you really blame De La Rocha for holding up Reznor? Trent is NOTORIOUS for spending years between albums. Wasn't it like 4 or 5 before the fragile came out? I'm not expecting anything from him for at LEAST another year. Too bad, since that NIN song he did for the first "Tomb Raider" soundtrack was pretty killer.

And back to the subject at hand, I just heard the new APC song, and was let down. I don't know why, but it seemed really flat...like a Tool b-side or something. Still looking forward to the album, though...

I'll admit that the song isn't as good a release for a new album as "Judith" when it came out, but "Weak and Powerless" is still a pretty good song. It's a pretty mellow song. It's not as loud or dark as you'd might expect, but its a pretty strong song. That's what I like about APC. It's a good band and it shows Maynard's musical range and creativity.

Even though I said the song was awesome yesterday, it was just cuz I was hyped up over the fact that APC came out with a new song (for the first time in like..3 years [?] or so). Mer De Noms was a great album, and I hope Thirteenth Step is just as great. I wouldn't be able to take it if the CD sucks, cuz a majority of new music today either sucks or sounds the same as everything else (and still sucks) and I need to listen to some good music.

I am ready to forgive the flatness of the song in hopes to see a REALLY good album. To me the song never had a pinpoint or climax, i was sitting there waiting for something that wasn't going to happen. Maybe that's a good thing because now i want to buy the album to see if i am right about it being great.

And Jeordie White (Twiggy Ramirez) is the new bassist for APC.

Reznor was working on the music for Doom 3 but backed out due to the game taking too long to complete, Even though the songs for And All That Could Have Been... were already made and whatnot Trent still went in to fix everything up and edit , as well as ont he DVD version. I wouldn't expect anything for another year, possibly two.

The fragile came out when i was 14, it's been 4 years since another cd has been released adn it wasn't even brand new material. Who the fuck knows when he'll put something new out.

I wait..

What NINy said. Compared to "Judith", it's a really non-dynamic lead single. Not a BAD song, but more something you expect NOT to be released on its own and show as like track 6 or something.

And I knew Twiggy was the bassist, but Iha is a guitarist. Didn't he replace the dude that went off with Queens of The Stone Age?

Troy Van Leeuwen left with QOTSA...nto a bad choice i am very much pleased that he left for a band of such caliber. Iha took his spot.

This fits..the new vampire vs. werewolf movie "Underworld" will feature a remixed version of the APC single "Judith". Remixed by Trent Reznor himself. Also maynard will be performing a song entitled "Coward" but i don't know if it will be a solo effort or with APC or what.

Sorry, but a lazy bastard is as a lazy bastard does.

Though I WOULD rather have a guy wait 4-5 years between EXCELLENT albums instead of putting more of possibly far lesser quality out every 2-3.

Based on my expectations? Yes.

It's cool and all that his albums are THAT great, but the majority of "great" modern musical acts have put out their best albums each within 2-3 years of the previous, so in that regard, he is VERY lacking.

I got the new APC cd today. It's really different from Mer de Noms, but I like it. It takes a little bit to get used to, and it isn't as hard as the previous cd, but its got some really awesome songs. Kick-ass cd.
