View Full Version : I haven't been sleeping well

It started on Saturday. I woke up after 2 hours of sleep on my own. Nothing woke me up, it just naturally happened.

then after that i keep waking up at 1, i usually sleep until 5:30. i really need my sleep since i work all night. it really doesnt help that i have been waking up so much earlier than normal.

after dinner (which is about 5:30) i try to take a nap but something keeps happening to prevent me from being able to fall asleep. the other day it was cramps and yesterday i had an emotional breakdown.

i dont know why this has been happening. i havent been worried about anything lately. things in my life are actually going pretty smoothly.

I don't know Angel, are you sure about that? But everyone goes through an occasional bout of insomnia. Give it a couple more days, if it persists, hit the whiskey bottle.... I mean see a doctor.

I had sleeping issues when I was first diagnosed with anxiety (depression). Not that that necessarily means that you might have that, just that maybe mention it to your doctor and see what he says. Usually its because something in your unconscious mind is deeply afraid of something and it overrides your need for sleep to avoid the stress of confronting the psychological issue it is most afraid of, and you wake up. Thus you have successfully avoided the stressor.

How long have you been working those hours? That schedule might be draining you physically & emotionally.

Do you live with other people? If everyone else is awake while you're sleeping, this might affect your ability to relax ; are you at all self-conscious about sleeping all day?

And this shit weather could definitely have something to do with it.

Feel better Amy.

How long have you been working those hours?

4 months

Do you live with other people?

yes i live at home with my mom, step dad, two brothers and two dogs

but thats been the case for these 4 months, only recently has there been it that i have been waking up early on my own. which means no outside noise disrupted my sleep or anything.

maybe its guilt due to your immoral lifestyle.

I was going through something similar last month for about three weeks. My trouble was sleeping all the time. I wasn't eating anything either. And I was severely depressed and suffering from anxiety attacks.

If the sleeping pattern keeps up, and any symptoms of depression start, you might want to see someone about it early so it doesn't become an issue that hinders you from living normally.

You havent been listening to that voice lately and I'm not the only board member whose noticed. We all talk about it when you arent online.

Yea, anyway, I'd say it's your schedule.

Ever since I was driving my friends to work in the middle of the night, my sleeping schedule has been a nightmare. I'm up till like 5AM and then asleep till like 3 some days. But then just yesterday I was up until like 11AM, got 4 hours sleep and have been up ever since. It sucks.

I can't just sit in bed if I'm not tired, so I get up to do something. I think that is what does it. You should really try to relax in your bed with no TV or other distrations on. I mean, unless you're used to falling asleep with the TV or radio on.

Consider this an intervention.

On a side note, I could go for some of Junior's Cheescake (http://www.juniorscheesecake.com/) right about now.

if you fall asleep to the television like me i would suggest watching something you really enjoy and falling asleep to that.

every night i fall asleep to my simpsons episodes i have on tape. no matter how bad my day is i still fall asleep laughing and with a calm mind.

and when i do wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep i just read. the longer i stay up the longer i read, but eventually even if i'm still not tired my eyes just get too heavy from reading and than that puts me out.

i doubt it helps but good luck

a few things...
1) i dont have a tv in my room so i cant really fall asleep to the tv, however i have found it that i cant fall asleep without turning on the fan. so the whispers of the fan slowly put me to sleep
2) i am an extremely light sleeper so even if i did have a tv in here, the noise would keep me up rather than help me sleep

After about 2 hours of lying in bed I had to get up and repsond to this thread.

I normally go to sleep pretty late, maybe 4 or 5 AM. But when it starts getting to 7...8...9 it's getting a little out of hand. When I finally decide to go into bed I just lay there and think about every little thing that happened during the day and what I want to do tomorrow.

Then I start getting frustrated and try counting sheep, or saying things over and over in my head to block out my mind and fall asleep, but nothing seems to work. I just tried sleeping in a bed, couch, and the floor and it's useless.

Now I'll be up until I'm so dead tired that my eyelids droop to the floor and I pass out. Then my whole day will be ruined.

if by that you mean you and your teddy bear then yes :( hehhehe

actually no, what i tend to think about when i cant sleep is my b/f. i visualize the time we have spent together, then i thkn about how much i miss him, and i think about the next time i am going to see him.

i try not to think when i try to go to sleep buuuuuuuut its hard.
