View Full Version : Someone explain Sean Hannity's logic to me...

No, I'm not always harping on conservative pundits. That's just an illusion. With mirrors. And stuff.
But anyway, I DO watch Fox News pretty often, even though I can't stand it's "infotainment" style of news, because I try to catch what all of the major news networks are saying so I can be somewhat balanced.
Anyway, the thing Hnanity loves doing these days on his show is getting outraged each time a Democratic candidate makes a speech or a statement because apparently they're always "attacking Bush".
And that's it.
This isn't under the guise of being "patriotic" or we all need to "unite together". Just that they're "attacking" him.
And he acts like this is some huge terrible thing he's exposed.
Uhm...
Color me retarded...but isn't that what the opposing party is SUPPOSED to do towards the guy they're running AGAINST? They're not calling a kid-toucher here or anything...just generally, "he's a bad leader, led us into a bad war, economic downturn, blah-blah-blah." Nothing really unexpected. So why are Hannity and many other Fox-style pundits (Coulter included) acting like this is such a terrible unforgiveable thing? Since when are candidates supposed to agree and support everything the other guy is doing? Or are the conservatives pundits just pissed that that's how Al Gore shot himself in the foot and it's not happening again? Or did they just grow so docile after 8 years of nonstop Clinton-bashing (Who I can't stand myself, but that's besides the point. I didn't make a career out of attacking him as these people did) that they now can't take what they had been spitting out?
And again, conservative PUNDITS, not conservatives in general, so unwad them panties...

I think that his logic is that they're just attacking without offering up what they would do differently. I suppose you could argue that it's implied that the attcker would do the opposite, but not every issue has only two clear sides.
They mostly seem to be running on a "Bush... Bad" platform, instead of saying "Vote for me, and here's what I'll do and how I'll fix these things."
Now, if you want to ask why would Hannity want Dems to run more effective campaigns, I don't know the answer to that one...

Makes sense. Though politcal catchphrases are really nothing new, and some of these guys ARE pressing the issues as best as an asskissing candidate can. It was just more of a sense that he couldn't stand them opposing Bush, period. Maybe they honestly don't like him. Hell, I kept waiting for either Bush or Gore to declare how much they HATED each other...it was so obvious you could TASTE it...yet it never happened. Why? Why can't these guys just say, "y'know what? THAT guyover there is an ass and I don't like him." Obviously, that should be followed up with "and here's why that is and how I'm different and what I'll do." Clean it up, fine...but why do you HAVE to be so unemtionless and civil?!?

FAUX NEWS LOL LOL LOL huddala huddala.
Seriously, even though I know that network is hated by some on this board, there is one perfectly good reason to watch it.
Kiran Chetry.
Oh my God. I think I may have a new victim to stalk.

Oh that wacky Hannity!
If than candidate's name is "Dean, Howard", than he's pretty much right.

Because these days the public has been beaten into believing that negative ads and negative campaigning are ALWAYS bad. This, of course, couldn't be further from the truth, but now everyone's scared to say something bad about someone else lest it be declared "Negative ad!! Mudslinging!!" A negative ad that points out legitimate flaws in an opponent is/should be perfectly acceptable- especially if it's the truth!

I've done much soul-searching on this, and I have reached a conclusion:
Kiran Chetry > Rudi Bakhtiar.
Yes, indeed.
However, Rudi > Edie Hill.
I'm not certain, however, that Rudi > Dari Alexander.

I wanna have an honest, fair debate and comparison with Se7en, but Rudi is the only one out of the four that has anything show up under a Google image search.

I've heard Hannity's radio show a few times and he really goes off there. He goes off on these wild rhetorical flights of fancy that only make sense during an acid flashback.
He doesn't have guns, does he?

three reasons to watch fox news: Jennifer Eceltson, Lauire Dhue, and julliet Huddy. Oh and "Shep" Smith, he is sooo hot!!!
And Hannity always says that they have a right to say anything they want about the president, and he has never called anyone unpatriotic for it or at least anyone that didn't deserve it. I.e.-Kate Hudson, Danny Glover, and Robert "KKKKKKKK" Bird."Pretty, Pretty ,Pretty" "WRONG!"

Hannity's logic makes perfect sense on 2 grams of psylocibin.

It appears that Sean Hannity's "Freedom Concerts" are starting to get a little bit of coverage in the blogosphere.
Apparently these concerts, which essentially big pep rallies, are under a bit of new scrutiny for not serving their purpose. Hannity basically sells them as a means "to benefit the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund for the children of America's military heroes (http://www.hannityfreedomconcert.com/)". Now some estimates have it that approximately 1% of the money is going there.
Needless to say that at this point two very left-leaning blogs, Daily Kos (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/8/6/6165/93743)& NewsHounds (http://www.newshounds.us/2007/08/06/how_much_does_hannitys_freedom_concert_really_bene fit_children_of_fallen_soldiers_developing.php) have the story, but they seem to have the basics of the story sniffed out.
Those blogs with this mention from the San Diego CityBeat (http://www.sdcitybeat.com/article.php?id=6027), in which Hannity claims that in the 17 years of the existence of the "Freedom Alliance", they've given over ONE MILLION DOLLARS (http://www.killerclips.com/clip.php?id=79&qid=748)out in scholarship money tells me this is a real story that could have legs.
I'll admit that as a progressive, the thought of taking Sean Hannity down is a beautiful thing. But seriously if that organization is moving money into Sean's pocket off the backs of the military, we as a nation should vote him off the goddamned island.

Unfortunately, there are many charities out there that do this. most of the money goes into administration (paying the employees). The salvation army is infamous for this. If a charity uses cold callers to get donations, expect the percentage of money that goes to the charity to be low.
Its misleading and its disgusting. i always check out a charity before i give to them.

Yeah, That's The Best Idea, And Charity Navigator Is A Great Site For Doing That:

This Is Really Hard To Believe. Can We Wait For Some Real Figures Before Passing Judgement? It Is Amazing That Someone In Hannity's Position Would Allow This To Happen And Expose Himself To These Charges. But Then, It's Hard To Believe That The Leader Of A Huge Church In Utah Would Be Found Sexing Up A Male Prostitute, While Fighting Against Gay Marriage.
Why These People Have Such A Blind Spot To Hypocricy Is A Mystery.

I guess he'll do that when Michael Moore does a documentary on left wing extremists. Thats why the Right and Left have each other, silly. So they can both behave like assholes, and then blame the people who catch them and attack them as "just being partisan" or call it a "witch hunt".
I get a kick out of all the local NY reporters (some on public radio, where they really make an effort to be non-partisan) trying to make excuses for Spitzer who was caught red handed in a Nixon-style dirty trick campaign against his main political rival in the state senate (Joe Bruno). And now I hear "well, lets not let this stand in the way of all the good things he wanted to accomplish/ his agenda. To quote Ed Koch "Puuuuhhhhhhh-leeeazzzze" Like they would be saying that if it was a Republican caught doing the same thing, or as if they did say those things if they were around when Nixon did similar stuff. No chance. Thats why (although I never watch Fox) I like the fact that at least someone will get the Right-wings point of view to the public relatively unfiltered, it just doesn't happen anywhere else. Then let people make up their own minds.
