'Brady Bunch' Moving Into White House

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - The White House is moving to Toronto.
Well, at least "The Brady Bunch in Washington," a two-hour TV movie from Paramount TV for the Fox network, will be filmed in the Canadian movie center with the usual requirements for thesps and crew to be Canadian. The film is executive produced by "Brady" creator Sherwood Schwartz, with son Lloyd producing and co-writing with Sherwood's daughter Hope Juber.
The story has Mike Brady, pere, as president of the U.S., taking over from his vice presidency post when scandal drives out the president. Brady chooses wife Carol to be his VP. Lloyd Sherwood tells me the TV'er pokes fun at all the realities of the White House, past and present. He points out there have been versions of the "Bradys" from the '60s to the present on all the networks (Fox being the fourth). There have been two feature films, cartoons, a variety show, stage play, three-camera and one-camera series, a one-hour drama and two telefilms -- And you ain't heard nothin' yet.
Schwartz, fils, tells me the family's got ideas for a mixed-race "Brady" family, with a white Mike Brady (with three white sons), marrying a black Carol (with three black daughters).
Sherwood is celebrating the 39th year of his other timeless creation, "Gilligan's Island" -- now enjoying a revival thanks to "Survivor" mania. He bowed his legit musical "Gilligan's" last week and has now been asked to make the show a permanent attraction in Hawaii at a prominent Maui resort. And the "Gilligan" characters are now being readied as figures for slot machines. You could very well say "Gilligan" and "Brady" have become slot machines for the Schwartzes!
