I have started a File Sharing Ring hosted at sblueman.com. The idea of the ring is to have fans help each other out to swap O&A and R&F audio, video and more. It works by sharing files thru AOL Instant Messenger. Currently there are 71 members, all sharing bits, full shows and more. Here is how it works:

Anyone interested in joining can send me an email including the following:

* the AIM screenname they will be using to share with

* an email address to add to their profile

* a text file listing all the files they will be sharing (send as an attachment)

Once I get this information I will add you to the list in the audio section of http://sblueman.com. Here you will find all you need to join the ring and make it work. You will find:

* Links to the latest version of AIM

* a Program called PrintFolders 1.4 that makes fast and simple text files

* a downloadable AIM Buddy List with all the names of people in the ring (Upd@ted daily)

* tutorials on how to setup AIM for file sharing as well as tutorials on how to setup PrintFolders 1.4

Also, if anyone is worried about running out of room in their AIM Buddy List they should check out a small tutorial I have at: http://sblueman.com/Editing AIM Buddy Limit.txt
This link shows you how to edit the default limit of buddies you can have on your version of AIM.

I hope that many of you can sign up and join. Since I started this ring in mid-july it has really taken off. Any questions, comments or death threats can be emailed to me at sbluemanradio@yahoo.com or thru IM at SBlueman Radio on AIM.

Of all the bluemen, I'd say sblueman is the best.

I just wanted to thank everyone who has joined the O&A File Sharing Ring in the first month since it was opened. We have grown to a total of 82 members now!

It's gotten to the point where I am going to have to look for other options besides AIM for people to share files since AIM's newer versions do not let you edit the amount of buddies on your list. What we need are these features:

* make it a private ring where only people signed up can share files.

* be able to allow each person to be their own server to share the files and also be able to have any member access the other members files without it having to be a direct send.

* Have a system that PC and Mac users can use. Also have whatever is setup to be simple to use so PC novices can use it as well.

* Have a way for people to share files without them having to give out their IP addresses to do so.

Any suggestions are more than welcome. I am amazed at how people have responded in one month. Thanks again to all of you that joined!

I'd like to help out. I've got lots of O&A. Unfortunately, when I run AIM, it won't let me transfer files (ingoing or outgoing). Can anybody help?

You might have to turn off you firewall to transfer files on AIM.

Nope. Even with the firewall off it doesn't work. BTW, I'm on Windows XP.

What version of AIM are you using? Best way to get file sharing going without a hitch is to have the same version of AIM as the person you are sending files to. That's why all the people in the ring have the latest version of AIM and Upd@te their versions when a new one comes out. The current version is version 5.2.3292 and can be found at: http://www.aim.com/get_aim/win/win_beta.adp
