The Johnny Cash song was a Nine inch Nails reamake, but cash's video is very sad

From the "King of Broken Hearts"

George Jones- He stopped lovin her today

He said "I'll love you till I die."
She told him:"You'll forget in time."
As the years went slowly by,
She still preyed upon his mind.
He kept her picture on his wall,
Went half-crazy now and then.
He still loved her through it all,
Hoping she'd come back again.

Kept some letters by his bed,
Dated nineteen sixty-two.
He had underlined in red,
Every single "I love you".

I went to see him just today,
Oh, but I didn't see no tears.
All dressed up to go away,
First time I'd seen him smile in years.

He stopped loving her today,
They placed a wreath upon his door.
And soon they'll carry him away,
He stopped loving her today.

You know, she came to see him one last time.
Aww, an' we all wondered if she would.
And it kept runnin' through my mind:
"This time he's over her for good."

He stopped loving her today,
They placed a wreath upon his door.
And soon they'll carry him away,
He stopped loving her today.

Lyrics to "Wildfire"
song written by Larry Cansler and Michael Martin Murphey

She comes down from Yellow Mountain
On a dark, flat land she rides
On a pony she named Wildfire
With a whirlwind by her side
On a cold Nebraska night

Oh, they say she died one winter
When there came a killing frost
And the pony she named Wildfire
Busted down its stall
In a blizzard he was lost

She ran calling Wildfire

By the dark of the moon I planted
But there came an early snow
There's been a hoot-owl howling by my window now
For six nights in a row
She's coming for me, I know
And on Wildfire we're both gonna go

We'll be riding Wildfire

On Wildfire we're gonna ride
Gonna leave sodbustin' behind
Get these hard times right on out of our minds
Riding Wildfire

Alone Again (Naturally) by Gilbert O'Sullivan

In a little while from now
If I'm not feeling any less sour
I promise myself to treat myself
And visit a nearby tower
And climbing to the top will throw myself off
In an effort to make it clear to whoever
What it's like when you're shattered
Left standing in the lurch at a church
Where people saying: "My God, that's tough"
"She stood him up"
"No point in us remaining"
"We may as well go home"
As I did on my own
Alone again, naturally

To think that only yesterday
I was cheerful, bright and gay
Looking forward to who wouldn't do
The role I was about to play?
But as if to knock me down
Reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch
Cut me into little pieces
Leaving me to doubt
Talk about God in His mercy
Who if He really does exist
Why did He desert me?
In my hour of need
I truly am indeed
Alone again, naturally

It seems to me that there are more hearts
Broken in the world that can't be mended
Left unattended
What do we do? What do we do?

Alone again, naturally

Looking back over the years
And whatever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to hide the tears
And at sixty-five years old
My mother, God rest her soul
Couldn't understand why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken
Leaving her to start with a heart so badly broken
Despite encouragement from me
No words were ever spoken
And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
Alone again, naturally
Alone again, naturally

"Leader of the Band"
- Dan Fogelberg

An only child
Alone and wild
A cabinet maker`s son
His hands were meant
For different work
And his heart was known
To none --
He left his home
And went his lone
And solitary way
And he gave to me
A gift I know I never
can repay

A quiet man of music
Denied a simpler fate
He tried to be a soldier once
But his music wouldn`t wait
He earned his love
Through discipline
A thundering, velvet hand
His gentle means of sculpting souls
Took me years to understand.

The leader of the band is tired
And his eyes are growing old
But his blood runs through
My instrument
And his song is in my soul --
My life has been a poor attempt
To imitate the man
I`m just a living legacy
To the leader of the band.

My brothers` lives were
different
For they heard another call
One went to Chicago
And the other to St. Paul
And I`m in Colorado
Holed up in some hotel
Living out this life I`ve chose
And come to know so well.

I thank you for the music
And your stories of the road
I thank you for the freedom
When it came my time to go --
I thank you for the kindness
And the times when you got tough
And, papa, I don`t think I
Said `I love you` near enough --

The leader of the band is tired
And his eyes are growing old
But his blood runs through
My instrument
And his song is in my soul --
My life has been a poor attempt
To imitate the man
I`m just a living legacy
To the leader of the band
I am the living legacy
To the leader of the band.

Well it depends greatly one an individuals life at the time. Like I think "tears in Heaven" is a sad song but there no way id even be able to listen to it if a had a child that died. With that said it has to be the saddest song ever, i mean its about a small child falling out a window to his death and it was writting by the person singing it....and its true!

Mad props to Fluff for the sig and C.O.soup for hosting!

HURT by johnny cash... BUT i love this song

its so good and i was surprised that the man in black didnt write it- Trent Reznor did...its actually one of my away messages

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

CHORUS:
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

CHORUS x2:

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

I'M RICH BIA-OTCH!
