My wife baby sits my niece, and she has this childrens book by the author Avi. Its part of a series called "Tales from Dimwood Forest" and it involves various woodland creatures and their adventures. Most of the storys involve mice. I had nothing to read one day while pinching a loaf, so I decided to bring the book in with me. I started reading it and couldnt put it down! I liked how it was illustrated and everything. It was simple reading but a thick enough book to require a few days read if you didnt devote yourself to a day of reading. I felt embarressed asking for it, so I went to Barnes and Noble and bought the whole series of 6 books! I had to ask the cute book chick in the childrens section to locate them and she showed me and Im taking the books from the shelf. There was only like 5 or 6 and at $5 a pop it wasnt to bad a hit and I figure I can knock the whole series out in a month! Am I sick for finding this stuff entertaining? I know I also enjoy the Harry Potter shit and was wondering if anyone else has interest in this type of literature and if they also feel funny about it. Do any of you have tastes in books that aught to appeal to younger audiences but you, as an adult find appealing ?

my favorite is titled "GEORGE The Ghost" In grammar school we would visit the school library once a week and i would pick it the most.

It only takes a few minutes to read but it fills me with enjoyment. A year or two ago my wife found it at the local Library and it still filled me with enjoyment and warmth.

I tried looking on the Internet for it so i could purchase it but i can't find it anywhere.

I just finished the first one, Im gonna start the second one tonite. Its cool because it doesnt kind of end up leaving you hanging like regular adult books. Its satisfying in a juvenile way.

there was anther one i liked alot that had 5 Chinese Brothers and i think they swallowed the ocean... their heads got bigger but it only looked like they each had about 20gallons in their head. I always remember thinking that there's more water in the ocean than that, even when i was a kid.

This may be for more younger kids, but "Goodnight Moon" was a classic.

Wow. The Little Red Lighthouse!! That was one of my favorites. I even had the 45 record that came with it so you could read along.

I had forgotten about it for years and one day I saw the actual Little Red Lighthouse. Right underneath the George Washington bridge. It totally brought me back and when I went to visit my parents I found the book up in my attic. I left instructions never to throw it away because I want my kids to read it.

Also, The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster is a must read for all kids. I proabably read that every year for 10 years.

When I was in the 4th Grade there was a new kid; Larry. Seating charts being the rule of the day, he gets a desk right next to me. We become friends.

So one day our teacher tells us that next week someone is going to come in and read to us. Cool, we thought, at least I did; anything instead of schoolwork, ya know?

Anyway, it's next week and the lady comes in and Larry is acting weird so I say, 'whats the matter?' and he's like 'that's my Mom'. He was embarassed as hell that his mom was in school.

Larry's Mom was Judy Blume.

She read from her book 'Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing' for like 45 minutes.

I thought it was cool as hell that his mom wrote books. Larry moved away a year later. We email each other once in a while.

It wasn't until later I found out that it was Judy Blume. Actually at that age, even Larry wasn't quite aware of exactly who his mother was.

Curious George was bitchin'! Especially the one where he gets into the ether and gets all fucked up.
Dr. Seus's stuff never did much for me.
I dug the ones with Granny Fox, by who, Thornton Wilder?

I love any Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, and Stellaluna was a great book too!

<marquee>I would take it like a champ for Jim Norton. My step-dad's not mean, he's just adjusting. I'm full of freakiness, so give my kat a kiss.</marquee>
