Mixed Nuts: Why only for colder weather?

So I broke open a bag of this dried fruit and nut mix tonight, and it had whole walnuts in it. And MAN did I go for them. I find myself looking through the bowl I got just for them.

And then it hit me. Why do we only see large quantities of mixed nuts in the fall and winter? I know fall is harvest season, but come on. In our world, we can get fruit and nuts anytime of the year.

So I say, make nuts an all year treat! (tee hee hee)

Oh, and what are those black nuts with the hard skin REALLY called?

Why are mallomars only cold weather too?

Someone told me Mallomars are only cold weather food because the in store temp of most stores during summer months would melt the chocolate shell of these treats.

And how come you only see Jordan Almonds at weddings? Usually attached in some cheap mesh to some useless wedding party giveaway.

Not that I'm complaining though. I find those things disgusting.

i have nuts all year round... but both of them are the same kind...

in the local italian bakery they only serve chocolate filled pasta ciottas in the winter... WHY? WHY JOHNNY? WHY?
