Has been one of the most solid weeks ever, since they have been on exclusively in DC. The 11am show is always great, and todays even had a lot of flavah of the night time show.

The night time show, with the drama playing out with Harry Elvis, Mikey D. and the other NYers, was great, not to mention the Washington caller stepping up a notch or two.

Also it seems the guys are getting much more comfortable in the new place, and have really made the best (under any definition) out of what was a bad situation.

I actually thought the Tuesday show was one of the best in a long stretch of really strong shows. I was concerned when the last 45 minutes became all about Hairy Elvis, but it turned into great, great radio.

Cigar Sid and Perry = Hys-fucking-terical.

And even Jefe and Dubs, as bad as they are, fill some most excellent roles there. Ron and Fez really know how to use everyone to their advantage.

Of course, what's going to suck is R&F are getting ready to go on vacation, but...DAMN! Things just *seem* to be getting better and better.

time to break it down.

the reason why the show is getting better is bc the cast other then ron and fez are getting their roles.

J dubs is the wacky stunt man, hes the one who is the most interesting on the air of the new crew and so he is taking his role.

jefe is the dare is say it, o i dare i dare, the new al dukes. the uncomfortable person on the air who is the shows punching bag.

new rory is the crazy guy...rarely heard but always is insane.............kinda like a bastardized version of joe poo.

the familiar faces were good too but its getting more normalized so thats good. I still mourn the loss of fezitorials for the new bit monday borefest.

Hopefully they'll come back. I loved them. They seemed like a lot of work to prepare, but they were brilliant.

No doubt at all!! Please, the two of them simply talking to each other for 4 hours is more entertaining than any other show out there, tv or radio, even when they're at *their* worst. As they prove every cycle with the interns and producers that are thrown at them, they can turn shit into gold. It's just great to see them go out on their vacation with their shows so good.

I think their last vacation was right after they started the double duty, and they were in the middle of all of the turmoil of relocating, and by the time that Friday rolled around they were exhausted - still funny as hell, but you could tell they were wiped - and were ready for the vacation (which Fezzie used to move down here).

The difference, I suppose, is that now they seem both funny and seem to be really having fun. Hope they both get a real vacation, and can relax knowing that this time next year they will be getting ratings The Sports Junkies could only dream of getting.

long time lurker....

FIRST TIME POSTER!

y'know what helped the chemistry?
When they started awarding the prize jacket to Dubs!
It TOTALLY put Jefe on the defensive, and he
was no longer the head "DC" guy.
Before it seemed like El Jefe was only putting up
with R&F, and Dubs and Rory were really part of
his "crew".
Now there is a little dissension in the DC team,
and
more conflict=more teh funny
and
Less Jefe=more teh funny

Exparrot,

On behalf of everyone I like to welcome you and say thanks for making your first post an insightful one rather than starting a new thread saying 'hey, i'm new'

I agree with your comment about how it seemed that dubs and rory were a part of Jefe's crew. Ron and Fez are at thier best when they are comfortable enough with there crew to point out all of the dumb things they do and know that they won't be offended. Dubs is getting funnier by the day even if the 'Blackout Challenge' Gameshow didn't work that well.

This past week New Rory and JDubs stepped up to the plate and developed "characters" for themselves. Also, we got vintage performances from the old NY crew, Mikey, Billy, and Harry, and a lot of girls were on air for a change -- Jen, Winnie, Shawnie, Ashley, and Amy -- and they were all cool. I can't get that cover of Sweet Child O' Mine out of my head.

Point is, no one is saying that the show is peaking right now. We are just beginning to realize that it is getting better since when they first moved down to DC. The topic is about how this was one of the best weeks SINCE THE DC MOVE. I haven't heard o,a, or all dukes since then.

Yes, and to be honest I am shocked. I have been listening less and less each week now since about two months ago. I haven't heard a whole show in months and ceased looking forward to seven O'clock. I really hate to be negative and I would NEVER try and disrespect the Ron & Fez show but it is nowhere near as funny as it once was.

In the past two months I have spent a lot of time traveling and have been listening to old archived shows I burned onto CD's so I have actually been privy to hear both shows at their respective time periods. The contrast is OFF THE SCALE and I think most of you either have poor taste or are playing blind man.

I feel obligated to say that it is almost unfair for me to judge the current show with last year's product. I have been laughing my ass off most of the day to a few of last June's shows. I have heard about 2 dozen shows from last summer in the past month and they are SO FUNNY! I mean this is some of the best comedy (In my opinion) I have ever experienced. Also, I was certainly guilty of having no clue as to just how important great callers are to the flow and content of the radio show. It just works so good, I don't know how to exactly explain it but it's amazing how different the two products are! Either way Ron and Fez are easily two of the funniest men ever. Right now I'm listening to the "Jackson Whites" show from last June, anyone interested let me know and I'll file transfer it over.

I remember when SEINFELD was on, that there were entire seasons that I would say, "Oh, this year isn't as good as last." And now, with the exception of that first season when they were finding their groove, I think they are all terrific, and never get tired of them.

Personally I also think Letterman was funnier 10/15/20 years ago, however he is still better now than anything else out there (even Conan, who I do love).

R&F's show is going to be different from their final year at NY, because in many ways they have to start over. A more fair comparrison might be with their first six months at WNEW, but even then this is a different situation.

It's one they have been in before (being professionals and all, in one of the most transient businesses around), and one they seem (after initial nervousness) to be excited about going after. It's a new challenge, yet one they now seem to know they will accomplish.

Which is what the real point of me posting this - they finally seem comfortable being at WJFK, and were really allowing themselves to have fun.

This is an excellent comparison. There are a few "Seinfeld" seasons that I thought quite frankly weren't funny at all, I mean I'll still watch yet I usually wouldn't crack a smile let alone laugh. The difference between HILARIOUS "Seinfeld" and bland "Seinfeld" is HUGE. This is precisely my point with "Ron & Fez" at WJFK and WNEW.

Personally I also think Letterman was funnier 10/15/20 years ago, however he is still better now than anything else out there (even Conan, who I do love).

I agree and think this applies to the current "Ron & Fez" show perfectly.
