The commercials have got me interested, but I am not positive I'll be seeing this yet.
No matter how long Nicholas Cage has been around, I still haven't made up my mind about him yet.
Sometimes I like him, sometimes I find his movies annoying. I guess it depends on the character he plays, but I've never really been this way about an actor.
Anyway, what do you guys think about the movie and/or Cage?

I like the Nic Cage. His action flicks are good entertainment. He was great in Leaving Las Vegas. And I actually watched The Family Man and surprise - not a bad flick. He good in it. And Tea Leoni never looked so hot!

Aggie's right.
He was fine up through "Face/Off". Then he did "Con Air" and spent the next 5-6 years in bad movie jail.
Then he did "Adaptation" and all was forgiven.
I wanna see this new one. Sam Rockwell RULES (It's criminal how few people saw "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind"), I always like a good con men film, and Nic doesn't look like he's doing his usually "I'm sad and mopey/I'm bug-eyed and CRAZY!!!" level of acting.

Nick Cage is a hack who's movies are good in spite of him, rather than because of him.

DING DING DING
in my opinion, alot of them arent even that good. see trapped in paradise, where he makes lovitz and carvey blow.
his best movie is prob gone in 60 seconds, which couldnt been so much better without him. shit vin diesel woulda been a more believable car thief.
the only 2 i wont bitch about is con air and rock, again movies that would have gone just as well alone

The best movies Starring Nick Cage:
Raising Arizona
Face Off
City Of Angels
8mm
Matchstick men looks like it could be a good film. However, I don't think it would be Nick Cage's fault if the movie turns out to be a bomb. In a film like this one it depends on the writing.

I think this thing has potential. It's directed by Ridley Scott, who's on a roll again. One of the guys who did the screenplay, Ted Griffin, has done an interesting mix of films; Ravenous, Oceans Eleven, and Best Laid Plans. So I think the story could be good. Cage only stands out when he has to be weird, and he looks weird in this. I'm optimistic.

So, what's the word? Anyone see this yet? I want to know if I should bother going or not.
On a side note, instead of starting another thread.....anyone want to see or have seen 'Pary Monster' with McCauly Culkin and Seth Green? I kinda want to see this but I'm not sure yet.

I saw Matchstick Men last weekend. It's a good movie, not great. The acting was top notch by everyone in the movie. Good con, but the ending was stupid. I say go see it.

Saw "Men"...really good performances by the three leads...the rest is "just" good.
I thought "Party Monster" would be fantastic...or at least a lot of fun. I was horribly wrong on BOTH counts. Amateurish script, terrible direction and camerawork, Caulkin is TOTAL-stunt casting and brings NOTHING to the characater...though Seth Green is pretty fabulous in it.
Movie of the year? "Lost In Translation", by a HUGE mile. Funny, sad, beautiful...in acting, the script, the music and the cinematogrpahy...if Scarlet Johansen and ESPECIALLY Murray don't at least get Oscar nominations, something seriously needs to blow up.

Saw and liked Cage in both. I'm also a big fan of Raising Arizona. Also, I have to admit that one of my guilty pleasures/comfort movies is.....

Not going to happen. i haven't seen this yet, but it's one of the films I'm most looking forward to seeing. No matter how good the performances, I guarantee that the Academy won't come calling.

i enjoy nick cage's performances and I also enjoyed matchstick men, aside from the "1 year later" sappy Speilbergesque ending

"Lost in Translation" was a really good, smart chick flick/character study. I think the movie had too small of a scope for Murray or Johannson to win Oscars, but Murray may get the nomination.

This was an amazing movie (saw it last night with a ladyfriend) but it got me pissed when I found out the truth near the end of the movie. I am kind of OCD like Cage was in this movie and dirt and shoes on the carpet, don't get me started, HA! The father-daughter relationship was so sweet and well... ya know.
I might have to see it again. I want a big bulldog safe myself and maybe some of that Ben and Jerry's New York Supreme Fudge whatever... oh yeah, tuna rocks! Mmmm!

This plot was twisted! I really enjoyed the movie though. The acting was great on all accounts, even that 25 or something girl that plays a 14 year old. Sam Rockwell still knocking them down.
The tempo was pretty paced, and the cinemotagraphy looked good, but the style has been a little used as of late.
I think the ending fit. Not to give anything away butI feel it add to the notion that even though things went bad, they are better people for it. A last twist on the character development.
As a side note. I really liked Leaving Las Vegas. I hope to someday drink myself to death in the city of sin if things fall through.
Another Contra and LSP joint production
