I just saw the movie "Camp" because a beautiful young lady convinced me to come with her. It was my first independent film I've ever seen. Virtually every guy in the movie was gay and all the women in the movie were intentionally ugly. All I could think about was the South Park episode with the gay guys eating pudding. Has anyone else seen this absurd piece of film?

I've never heard of the movie, but based on the IMDB plot outline: After a series of Broadway flops, songwriter Bert Hanley (Dixon) goes to work at a musical camp for young performers. Inspired by the kids, he finds an opportunity to regain success by staging an altogether new production.

Unless this one was REALLY independent, with no distribution and the director was there hand-cranking the projector.

Well, at least the first one I've seen in the theaters. I've seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but none of the really artsy gay guys eating pudding movies until now.

i saw camp, and i enjoyed it. maybe that's because i'm a chick, i could see a lot of guys not getting down for it. i thought it was pretty clever and definitely entertaining. i just felt a little like a dumbass because i clearly didn't get a lot of the little jokes. there were people in the audience laughing at things that i had no clue were funny. i guess i just don't know enough about musical theater to be cool. sigh.

also, dont tell me that the girl who played dee isn't hot:

The movie wasn't bad. It was just a little out there. The girl I went with is an actress/singer so this was her type of thing, but I was lost when it came to all the musicals and whatnot. I will admit that Dee was hot. However, the blonde who was meant to be the hot chick wasn't ugly, but wasn't stunningly gorgeous either.

Look it up on the imdb. It was made by Mirage Studios and was the most successful indy film until My Big Fat Greek Wedding came along.
