From Studio Briefing:
SCHRADER FIRED FROM EXORCIST IV
Writer-director Paul Schrader (Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Auto Focus) has been fired from The Exorcist IV: The Beginning after turning in a completed film, when producers concluded that the film did not contain enough violence, the New York Post's "Page Six" column reported today (Monday).
Producers Morgan Creek "wanted more gore," a source told the column, "They think that will sell. There were huge fights between Paul, who is more artistic, and the company, and earlier this week Paul was fired. They are planning on hiring a new director to reshoot some scenes."

I heard someone say a couple of years ago that the real end-product of movie making process these days aren't really the movies, or the DVDs, but the trailers - which he said as a joke, but really there is some truth in that.
That trailer for the new TEXAS CHAINSAW is amazing, as is the poster art. I was ready to plop down my money right then and there when I saw it. It looks like it's simply a scene for scene reshooting of the original, which really makes you scratch your head and wonder what's up with that?
My only thought is that New Line wants to revive that franchise, especially now that the time is right for Jason and Freddy to battle someone else - who better than Leatherface; the model for most of the slasher villans, which (what a coincidence?!) New Line now owns!
Yeah, I'll be there opening night. I just hope it's as good as the trailer.

First there was PSYCHO, and next there is TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, followed by DAWN OF THE DEAD...and now the following remake news that would make the baby Jesus cry:
There's some films you just do not touch with the remake pen - "Star Wars", "Citizen Kane", "Jaws", etc. and Gus Van Sant learned that the hard way with "Psycho". Now one of the old classics which defined a genre looks set to get Upd@ted and boy are the fans not happy about it. Creature Corner reports that sources inside Dimension Films have revealed the genre production house is "reportedly throwing in exorbitant amounts of money to bring series creator John Carpenter back into the fold.to remake the film that started it all".
Halloween
Yep, you heard right - a modern remake along the same lines as the upcoming redux of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (if that is a success, expect this baby to pick up a lot of steam). They're apparently trying to get Carpenter to draft and direct a Halloween Upd@te rather than further the new stream of continuity built in H20 and carried on into "Halloween: Resurrection". All the original's classic characters would be re-introduced including Laurie Strode, Dr. Loomis and of course Michael Myers. Whether Carpenter will join the project has yet to be determined.
I am no longer shocked by these things.
Why can't they remake something more obtuse that maybe could stand to be imrproved, like the H.G. Lewis films?
