Theres alot of quick shots, and moving shots, it doesnt look like footage is live, it looks like the footage was shot using film, not video format. Being a high schooler myself, ill just have to say that I'm one of the few who doesn't like the VMA's, nor anything that MTV does. I'll occasionally watch MTV2 (only if I can actually get the channel. The station goes out all the time and Comcast sucks, cuz it never fixes it) because at least that station sticks to the old "music video' format, and not play reruns of Road Rules, Real World and The Osbournes.

Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden - everything between 1980-1998 was great. Everything has gone to shit now. There are still some good bands out there, but a good majority of music today can't compare to anything in that time period (1980-1998).

The only thing that I regret about not seeing the VMA's is all this kissin' I'm hearing between Madonna and Britney/Aguilera. Wouldn't have minded watching that...

Im a sucker for this shit (You are too just admit it) and of course i watched it. Like the fool I am. I figured hey, maybe somebody good will win like The White Stripes or Queens of the Stone Age. But of course they didnt. Coldplay is the most overrated band in history, and good charlotte fucking blows ass. Even mentioning there name with Green Day is a Crime. They're faggots. The whole opening basically sucked, partially because im not intrigued by a 45 year old has-been was kissing girls. Chris Rock had his moments, especially the Mary Kate and Ashley joke. 50 Cent cant sing for shit, and all those other damn bands that all sound alike suck as well.

Me being in High School, forces me to go to school with these fools who listen to this awful awful music. I guarentee if you ask them who lynard skynard, or cream, or some other awesome bands from the 60's and 70's were, they would have no idea. Recently I have been listening to that type of 60's and 70's music, and the more you listen to it, the more you appreciate it and the more you see how horribly horribly bad music has gotten.

You can make this age of media saturation work for you. There are hundreds of magazines that explicitly state "if you like THESE bands, you'll like THESE guys...". There are probably MILLIONS of free internet radio stations that are SO specific in their genres that you can't help but find something you like and new bands to enjoy. PLENTY of websites that do nothing but stream videos from artists who would NEVER get airplay on MTV, much less even in this country. There are millions of sites that write about NOTHING but music. They don't have to make time for fashion or tech or celebrity ads/articles like Rolling Stone and Spin and their ilk must. This shit is EVERYWHERE. And everything is so slaved over that it's literally impossible to NOT find bands and acts that don't sound EXACTLY like what you want to hear.

Yes, the mainstream sucks. Radio sucks. MTV sucks. This is nothing new. It's been that way for almost 25 years now. But all that stuff is such a miniscule part of the current music scene that it's not worth paying attention to. Make the internet work for you. Start hitting those streaming radio statons, ANY streaming radio station. You'll be set in no time.

What's more, now instead of filtering through the 40 or 50 "MTV acts" to find something good, you are saying to go listen to literally thousands of hack garage crap acts and try to find a band you like.
