Why just be sick when you can be REALLY sick?

Quick rundown:

Last wednesday, I was feeling "under the weather"

Thursday, Started to have an irritated throat.

Friday, Tried to eat a burger because I wasn't feeling strong, and every mouthfull I tried to swallow felt like broken glass going down my throat.

Saturday morning my left ear was bothering me too so I got myself together and went to DOCS, a local HMO. Even though I was told they were open untill 3 and I got there at 1:20, they told me they closed the door at 1. Even though I told them I was really sick, they didn't seem to care. So I just went home and tried to sleep it off.

Sunday Morning I went back and made sure to be there at 9 in the morning. When I walk in, they hand me a stack of forms and tell me that I need to fill them out first. After filling out the forms and sitting in the waiting room, I finally see the Doctor at about 11:50. It turns out that I have Strep throat and a double ear infection (meaning both ears). He prescribes me antibiotics and a strong cough syrup and tells me to get to bed and just rest.

Today is my first day back to work and I'm probably not staying the whole day. It's taking all of my energy to just keep my head up. I only came in because I knew if I stayed out any longer, all of the little duties and responsibilities of mine would become so back logged that I'd never be able to catch up.

Docs sucks. Last October I had the same problems, so I went there and waited 2 hours until they were ready to see me. i waited another 20 minutes for the dr to see me, and then another 40 minutes before he came back with the results and prescription. Feel better, hospie

Have you seen the other threads around here? I'm sure there may have been at least 1 person out there who may like to know either to offer some well wishes or to enjoy my pain.

george carlin did an awesome bit on this.
he goes on to say when you tell someone you're not feeling well, or a little under the weather, or you're coming down with something, etc,
no one gives a shit. you're seen as an annoying bitch whose whining about everything.

but once you are officially sick, everyone feels bad and has sympathy for you.

plus when you're only not feeling well, you know it can get worse, like getting sick.

however, when you're sick, you have no worries. you're already sick, can't get worse.

Its because some people milk sickness for all its worth. They think they are still in grade school and cant come to work if they are feeling the teensie bit ill. I can see not going to work if you have projectile diareah or whatever, but just having a headache or a twisted neck doesnt qualify in my book. You sound seriously ill though. Plus, youd probably infect other people there. I hate the doctors for that wait. I guess its better than in Canada and all, but I really wish doctors were more considrate of MY schedule too. If you want to go to a doctor one day, you have to take the entire day off work because they cant be bothered with something as trivial as an "appointment", even thought they insist that YOU schedule one and they dont keep it, but YOUD have to pay if you missed THEIR appointment. Thats why Id have to be nearly dead to go to a doctor, and why I was happy about that frivilous lawsuit out in Las Vegas.
