I used to listen between 6:30 and 7:00 in the hopes of catching Ron and Fez coming into the studio early. Now it's the same as KROCK, Howard in the morning, rock all day. These poor fat losers can't hang on anywhere other than DC.

I don't think so. I think they had a falling out after the last time she did Stern. They actually use to be friends (Don even stayed the night at her place), but the real fall out happened last summer when she became part of the show, and during the week they four crybaby millionaires (D&M/O&A) had their public squabble.

"Radio Gods" began years ago as a way to laugh at Stern for him taking himself too seriously with the "King of All Media" - of course, Stern began calling himself that as a way to make fun of Michael Jackson's "King of Pop" title he gave himself.

Personally, I never thought that either Stern or Don and Mike took those titles too seriously themselves, but people have latched onto that as proof that they think they are too big, blah blah blah - and THAT is the real punch line to the joke(s); that people get offended.

Dave, who runs DCRTV, is a fan of most of the shows on WJFK, and seems to get it, though.

For the record, Don and Mike have usually gotten better ratings than even Stern on WJFK, and while they may not have succeeded in some of the other big markets, they do rule the DC airwaves (#1 in 3 different timeslots),and generate a ton of cash for Infinity.

Much more of their whining, like the last couple of weeks, though, and who knows how much more listeners will put up with.

And to bring this back on topic...(seriously, isn't there enough other message boards for other radio shows?)....I did catch their show today, and there were actually 2 or 3 pleasant Ron and Fez mentions, which was cool to hear.

I actually think it's cool when Ron and Fez mention Stern, something they never would have done when they were in NY. While most of it has not been negative (usually commenting about something they heard on his show, then taking the topic in their own direction), they do like to occasionally bust El Jefe's balls for being such a big fan.

Again...plenty of other message boards devoted to Don and Mike AND Opie and Anthony...the only thing that matters is that D&M's syndication deal is pretty close to what Ron and Fez would have gotten, and still could get, from WW1, and Don and Mike being off of Philly radio DOES hurt Ron and Fez's chance of getting on there, and possibly NY.

* The Junkies were on WW1 and Dr0pped out of it about 6-8 months before they switched stations; they basically sited the same reasons.

* O&A had the same deal as Don and Mike - they got a lot of money for being on their home base station, and then got whored out in the syndication markets

* Don and Mike had a separate contract with WYSP, which they are still getting paid for (much like O&A are getting paid for not being on the air all over the country.

* When O&A come back, more than likely it will be on satelite radio (which has yet to prove that it could make money) or cable tv - but that won't be until next year, after they have spent, over the years, almost one-third of their radio career as a duo off the air.

* O&A will not be back on WYSP, an Infinity run station, no matter what Norton says at his stand up shows, and no matter what their friend, Tim Sabian, would like to believe.

Nevermind...I'm falling into the trap again...

WHAT PEOPLE keep forgetting is that both of those other shows (D&M / O&A) actually did have fans in all of these cities; D&M continued getting calls from listeners in NY who could pick up WYSP, and even now some Philly listeners are calling because they listen through the Baltimore signal - on the flip side, about once a month I still may see a "WOW" sticker here in DC.

The ratings, in NY and DC, didn't reflect this; after one year for both of them, NY rejected Don and Mike just as DC rejected O&A - THANK GOD Ron and Fez are being given time to find their audience without moles from other radio shows calling and trying tear them down every time they answer the phone! Philly could have been a good neutral ground for both shows to co-exist, but after O&A got yanked people were bitter than Don and Mike "replaced" them and gloated about it.

And while O&A did have fans in DC, there are really that many more people that hated their show - the venom NY D&M haters spew towards "The Radio Gods," you can find in DC towards O&A.

Which gets me back to the only reason I respond to these messages - to remind people that the only city Ron and Fez are on right now is a city that still loves Don and Mike, regardless of how you (yes, YOU!) feel; newbies have come here and received crap for evening mentioning D&M, and that's going to just turn them off, and continue the perception that Ron and Fez are O&A friends (which they are) and that they hate Don and Mike (which they don't), and why would someone who listens to D&M want to tune into that...again?!

Like I said...there are PLENTY of message boards to lock horns and scream about how much you hate a radio show. They are fun to let off steam. This doesn't need to become such a board, though.
