hey guys its been a long time since I posted here but I need some help.

I recently moved to California and things have been good. I have a job I like in the Surfing industry and I am able to get to the beach on a regular basis. Things seems to be going well except for one things.

I am extremely homesick. I miss my family and friends terribly and to be honest I dont even want to make new friends. I feel like I would be replacing my friends and I dont want to do that.

I mean I have things so good...why do I feel so bad?

Has anyone else felt like this before? What do you do to get over it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do have to say I am very thankful for being able to pick up R+F even if they are on a Delay out here....anyone know of a way to hear them....let me know...

What's stopping you from going home for a few days?

I should be out meeting new people too but I like to spend alot of quality time alone at my crib. At least you're in Cali bro. Great wine, women, weed,,,

Would any of your buddies want to relocate? Maybe some of your friends and family can come for a visit if you can't go back home?

What about asking for "care packages?" I know it sounds a little gay, but maybe you can ask your friends and family to put together some things you miss about the East Coast.

IM is a great way to keep in touch. As is e-mail. I know, it's not the same.

I know it's hard but try to make some friends. California is FULL of transplanted New Yorkers/Jerseyites. Maybe you'll find someone in the same boat.

I understand what your going through, but if this is where you are now and your happy and making money, the next logical step is to create a friendly circle around yourself of people and begin to call this place "home".

If the old people you had around you resent you for doing it or make you feel guilty, then they are being selfish. Youve moved on, my friend.

Stick with the New Yorkers!!

Seriously, get out and mingle. You'll eventually hook up with people who have the same interests as you!!

We all need and crave a certian ammount of human contact. It's in our nature. It's down in there deep, with bile and stuff.

But I must say that spending some time alone is a very reflective, necessary part of one's life. We come into the world alone, and we leave alone.

You learn a lot about yourself while alone. I say use this time to do some things YOU want to do. Read, work out, stamp collecting. I don't know. As long as your're not an insufferable asshole, friends will come in time. You already know they're never replace your East Coast friends, but they're be cool in different ways.

And be strong and cofident in the fact that you ARE a Ronfez.net poster. You are a fan of superior comedy. You are from the strongest coast.

Peace out. Oh, and listen to Metal.

Thanks all. It just sucks when you get these feelings of loneliness and sadness when you know you should be excited and happy.

I really think It just comes down to missing my fam and friends. I just booked a flight home to good old Southern NJ (watch the tram car please)for Jan.

I know it will be cold but it will be great to surf with my Brother and my friends and to hang out with my nephews.

Of course i will have to take a trip to NYC.

Thanks again for the words of encouragement...its amazing home a few nice words can really pull someone up. Thanks.

PS...I have been having some of the people at work listen to Ron and Fez and they really like it. The good people at Quiksilver (company I work for now) know good comedy.
