Are all the great rock icons gone?

The past 2 or 3 years has taken a HUGE toll on music. We lost Joey and DeeDee Ramone, Joe Strummer,Waylon Jennings,George Harrison and now Warren Zevon and the hardest of 'em all Johnny Cash.
It seems that besides Springsteen and Dylan theres no one who can be considered an icon anymore.
And I know guys like Page and Plant and Tom Petty and Paul McCartney are still alive and they are all major, but who else can we really put on the level of the ones we have lost?

I cant think of any.

Any suggestions?

There are none left. At least none making any music that is in any way groundbreaking that would give them icon status. Rock is so, flat.
