I know I can'tbe the only one who does this. As I'm surfing I usually have stuff on the TV as I am paying attention to the comp more.

So what is your favorite thing to leave on in the background?

I find sports work great. Too bad baseball is nearing it's end. I hate basketball and am not a huge fan of hockey.

all the time. my computer and tv face the same direction, so i don't have to turn my head, just move my eyes a bit to the left.

Yeah, I've got a TV on my desk with my computer, so I'm constantly watching in the backround.

A lot of the times I'll be listening to music on the computer and mute the TV.

I'll put on the Yankees when they're on, but otherwise I love Tech TV (so I can be learning things while I'm on the computer), Food Network, or GameShow Network. You don't have to watch constantly, but you can still figure out what's going on.

I'll do the same thing. I'll turn on somthing I dont wanna miss, and even if I dont pay attention, I still feel like I've seen it.

I don't have it that easy. My computer and television are in different rooms, so it's a pain in the ass whenever the A's are on and Moe IM's me, heh-heh.

You cannot defeat what you cannot see.

I was on a real Star Trek kick for awhile. My grandma gave me a bunch of the original episodes on VHS years ago.

But since I watehed them all, I have to wait until they're fresh again. Except for The Touble with Tribbles. That one is timeless.

Sports and reruns of shows like Seinfeld, Simpsons are good. New shows I don't bother because I know I won't be paying enough attention.

Well recently it's been a lot of Law & Order and Murder She wrote (I think you could do nothing but watch these shows all day and not have any time to spare. they're on 24/7). from 1-2 it's always Days of Our Lives. From 2-3 it's Passions. The rest of the time it's the food network (unless Emeril is on; I can't stand him) and animal planet (I love animal cops and emergency vets. I usually switch to law & order when that's my baby and a pet story come on, and the otehr shit I hate like the croc hunter and the pet psychic (ugh ugh ugh)). Oh and real TV.

the only problem with law & order is you really need to pay attention and that's hard to do when I'm surfing.

If I'm just surfing on the net, I usually have the radio on, and sometimes will have the tv muted - reality tv, news and sports work best with that; I do the same thing with having the tv and the computer screen situated so I only have to move my eyes.

FAMILY GUY, SIMPSONS and really old suff like Andy Griffith from tv or DVD work well if the radio isn't on, as does soap operas (All My Children) during the day or late night shows (Dave, SNL, Conan).

If I need to write anything, I usually just put a CD in, and turn the TV off.

"24" is the only show that I don't want to be distracted from.

TV and radio are good [Comedy Central for me], but someone gave me a cheap-o police scanner like ten years ago and now i have a police/taxi/fire/ems/airport radio shack scanner, and yes it has a huge antenna!

Anyway, it takes some work coz you have to find out what frequencies the locals are transmitting on, but it's pretty cool surfing while listening to people get busted, or a Coast Guard dispatch about a missing vessel, or a Domestic Disturbance, and other weird stuff as it happens.

Ditto with shortwave; you can get a shortwave at radio shack for like $40 and it's the coolest thing; you can pull in stations from 10,000 miles away, in every friggin language, and just about every foreign country has a english station broadcasting, WOW the news is reported different elsewhere.

And at best, I listen to my Oscillating Fan; the white noise is nice.

[EDIT: Sorry, I accidentally wrote who actually killed JFK and the location of Hoffa here, gotta keep that stuff dark!]

It depends what is on when I'm on the computer. If it's after work it's usually The Simpsons (yeah, go figure) or the news. If it's the weekend it's usually some game. If I come across a good movie I'll leave that on.

I usually listen to CD's. Right now I listening to the new Iron Maiden CD "Dance Of Death" for the first time, and I'm happy to say it is better than "Brave New World" :)

If it's the TV, it will be ESPNEWS, Mets games, Dave, Conan, Comedy Central, WWE

Take it easy Clarky
