Had my first full-time teaching Gig right up the road at Sayreville High School. The Mascot is the Bombers, seriously, for the PC.

Anyway; down from the Go-Go Rama was the weirdest most Awesomely Funky Venue EVER; Club Bene.

I knew the family. I taught one of the Benenatos. This place would have Kathy Lee and Regis on a Wednesday, the Duke Ellington Orchestra Thursday, a Howard Stern Road Show [yep, he had them here] on a Friday, and then maybe Fishbone on Saturday.

The Place was done in fantastically dark wrought iron hardware and cloth wallpaper; it was right out of a movie set. Each chair weighed 60 pounds.

I saw some weird shows there; George Carlin at least 5 times, Michael Hedges the same, Joe Satriani, Fishbone, Adrian Belew... it still exists, the building, I think [club Krome].

Small world.

They changed it to Club "Krome" and they got rid of the Leopard Lounge.

Krome was cool, but a weird scene. They had 2 stages going when I played there. I was impressed they got the shcedules to NOT conflict. I know 2 stages sound easy NOT to mess up, but you'd be surprised.

A few months before that I went to see a guy's son play there on teenie bopper night. Nothing but high school kids and the band's parents.
