What do you think is the worst video ever ?
Not necessarily the song, although that is a factor, but the video itself ?
The premise, acting, etc ...

I was flipping the channels last night and came across Blondie singing " Heart Of Glass " on VH! classic.
It may not be the worst, but its damn near the top.
It looked like she was stoned and reading the words to the song off of teleprompter.
Horrible !!

I have balls !!!

Pat Benatar's "Love Is A Battlefield" has to tie with that one.

Off the top of my head, I have to say it's Coldplay's "Yellow". The entire video is just the lead singer walking toward the camera along a beach. The video is as dull as the song.

Also, Missy Elliot's first video. I can't remember the name but she's inside what I think is supposed to be a large clock with a swinging pendulum. She is dressed in a garbage bag type of suit. They later show her sitting on a hill and use effects to make her head look like it's spinning aroud like The Exorcist. It is completely unwatchable.

I thought it was a very simple video for a very simple song and nicely done at that.

"The Rain" was the name of that song and i agree, the video was too much over all the place.

Worst video i can think of that I've ever seen....

IMO Dire Straights' "Money for Nothing"

I understand it was a ground breaking video but besides that it's just horrible.

Any hip-hop or rap video made between 1995 - present day. Minus the ones made by Busta Rhymes, Black-Eyed Peas, or any other artists that have respectably good music. I'm just sick of those videos that just have chicks walking around with nothin' on doin' their little booty dance. It was great when it first came out, but it got old after a year. Besides, it really doesn't deal with the songs that the artists sing anymore. If I wanted to listen to crappy music and see almost-naked girls at the same time I'd just go watch some Playboy.

I thought it was a very simple video for a very simple song and nicely done at that.I agree that there is something to be said for a video that doesn't kill you with special effects. It seems they use so much visual stimulation these days it's hard not to puke. Perhaps my distaste for the video is partly due to the fact that the song puts me to sleep.

A particularly awful video I saw recently (please, someone tell me you caught this horror) was R. Kelly and some new rapper whose name I can't recall. The name of the song was something like "Snake" and the lyrics are simply over and over "Move your body like a snake". The video is R. Kelly and this rapper dressed in fatigues, supposedly in the Iraqi desert, being treated like kings and watching attractive black women dressed like genies dancing "like snakes". Then they drive all over the desert in a Hummer. I don't even understand what the implication was. Who thought this was a good idea?

I didn't care for 3 Doors Downs video for the song Kryptonite, I was a little let down by it.

Also most Metalica videos suck except for a few of their early ones.

You mean the one where all of the female runaways band together and scare away the evil pimp by dancing a synchronized shoulder-shimmy dance? How can you not love that?

I'm quite partial to the video for "Until It Sleeps", but perhaps that's only because it appears inspired by a Bosch painting.

Anything by Journey.

Or Billy Squire.

I hate the nu-breed of music videos that feature wacky "special" fx that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the song. For example:
"I'm Gonna Getcha Good" by Shania
or
That video by Paulina Rubio.
Both vids feature the lead singer as a super hero on a very Tron-inspired lightcycle, riding around at rockin' high speeds in the distant future! Wowza!

Linkin Park has blessed us with TWO hi-tech vids. One of them doesn't even show the band! It's like watching some plot-less video game where nobody wins. Ugh.

I like a video that moves along the lines of the song. ("Janies Got a Gun" by Aerosmith)
and I also dig a straight forward concert vid. "Hundred Million" by Treble Charger looks like it was directed by David Fincher. Very cool.

Nena with her "99 Red Balloons". I was expecting a lot more from a song about nuclear war. One of the defining songs of the 80s, but a disappointing video.

ANYTHING by Coldplay is fucing terrible. Most overrated band of 2003.

I'd say Ozzy's "Crazy Train" video of a live performance of the song with Randy Rhodes is by far one of the WORST videos I've ever seen. Some horrible white out shots of Ozzy with a haircut only Ray Charles could have cut interrupted with slo-mo and freeze frame shots of him and Randy. Terrible.

Also, I know Randy died tragically, but is there a rest of the band in that vidoe? You'd neverknow it. I think you see half the drummer's kit in one shot of Randy.

Give me a break.
