the boys recently discussed suicide/ the right to die/ killing. which brought in a variety of opinions across the board.

personally, i come from a deist view, in the sense that god created the world and walked away from it- letting it be ruled by free will. as far as retribution for sin, my view is comparable to jacob's ladder, where any sins/ attachments to this world are freed in the next, before you can move on to peace.

recently, i've gone through a world of shit and have lost direction. and i've lost sight in the purpose of this world- what is the point?

i'm not looking for sympathy, coddling, or comical derailings. just the honest opinions of members and their views of why we were put here.

There really are no answers to this question. While some purport to have an answer they just have an opinion. One opinion is no more valuable than the other yet they all have value.

In my mid 30's I had a heart attack and was saved by emergency surgery.

Not a day goes by since that I don't think at least a couple of times about death. And it has been 4 years.

I launched myself on what I thought was a spiritual journey read and listened to a lot of stuff and in the end decided that I am never know what's going to happen until I die and I'll be dead forever.
So I try to live each day as best I can enjoy as much as I can and realize there are no second chances.

Not to be insipid, my opinion about "god's plan" is find your true self, be true to your self. Within yourself lies god's plan, be courageous and confront your emotions and fears feel your emotions dont lash out or hurt some one else just truly feel.

I think God (fill in yours here) is an entity in peace, peace at any cost, thats any cost, not just the cost of some religions ego or some color's embarassment or some husband shame.

Imagine the day you come into work and see your boss freaking out, if you respect him you might start to worry and fear for your livilihood. What good would a kind loving God (fill in yours here) if he deviated from that love to be vindictative (to teach a lesson-what crap). Peace should not come at the cost of anyone including yourself.

Wrapping up I think god's plan is for everyone to be 7 foot 4 , 500 pounds and be from grenoble france.

Here is how I see it: We get put on this earth and God (or whatever higher diety you believe in) says "You got one chance, I give you free will and thought, all I ask is that you treat ALL of my creations with respect." When you die you go up and have a nice chat with the Almighty about what you did with your life.
It is a little like Albert Brooks in "Defending your Life". Just like the idea that we are given chances in life and see who takes the risk and who stays and watches.

Thats my point if it's founded in fear one might interpret it as going to hell, If ones parents had anxiety and passed it on to their kids, that kids going to hell for touching them selve. But some one who isnt in that frame of mind (or better yet has the awareness to realize that fear of hell was manifested from another person not my own conscious decison) might interepret it as im going to heaven if i love myself.
