Interesting article on China surveying the moon, and they plan to even visit it by 2020...
China Plans to Survey the Moon Within Three Years
Mon October 06, 2003 09:18 AM ET
BEIJING (Reuters) - China, on the verge of its first attempt at manned space flight, said on Monday it would launch a satellite to survey the moon within three years.
"The surveying satellite will orbit the moon for a year to explore the geography, soil, environment and resources of the moon," state radio reported
...Chinese space officials have hinted they are pursuing a multi-pronged human spaceflight program, including space station construction, as well as eventual travel to the Moon, all by 2020.
The article... (http://www.reuters.com/printerFriendlyPopup.jhtml?type=scienceNews&storyID=3563564)
What I want to know is, what is their interest in space travel after all this time?

sure why not....spend a few billion dollars investigating a big chunk of dead rock thats been explored to death by the americans - when you have millions of starving people living in your country. Im sure the average chinaman earning 8 dollars a year is thrilled to death about this.

I cant believe that the names of men who explored the moon are going to be Armstrong, Aldrin, Conrad and Ming. How long before we hear "the duck still live!!!" from the moon?
All joking aside though this is a historic day and I predict one of two positives out of it. We get our asses in gear and head back to the moon. Something we havent done since December 1972. Which would be a great boon to the economy, and even to national morale and pride. Or we linger and watch the Chinese head to the moon in a cakewalk. For we have not had any competition in space since the USSR folded up...I say good for China. And may it spark our competitive juices here in America.
The other story can be found here

where is "The Duck Still Live" from?
I asked Ron LONG ago, his response is that it's a line from a movie, or just something someone said once, that for some reason, just kept going and going and going...
Ditto with [and they did this last night for a couple of seconds, but they have screamed at each other sometimes for 2 minutes...
Ron: Fez, get me the gun.
Fez: Ron, I'm not getting you the gun.
Ron: Get Me The Gun!
Fez: I'm Not Getting you the Gun!
RON: GET ME THE GUN NOW!!!
Fez [crying now]: I'M NOT GONNA GET YOU THE GUN!!!!!.....
and they just keep GOING. Screraming at the top of their lungs. It can be a Knife too.
Have they done this on DC yet?

They've done the "Get me the big knife!" bit before, yeah. As far as I know, they got it from Nic Cage in Moonstruck.
And perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought the "This duck still live!" joke started back when they were in NY doing, I think, the midday spot, and for some reason they got talking about Chinatown and the various food-stuffs that can be found there.

Take-out-naut not able to see Great Wall of China from Space (http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/space/10/17/china.wall.reut/index.html)
Popular myth has it that the serpentine Great Wall of China ... is the only man-made object visible from space.
"I did not see the Great Wall from space," Yang told state television late on Thursday
Well, Other people have been in space, did they see it?
And is this duck still rive?
