I think John Ritter is more popular dead than he was ever was alive. Ever since John Ritter died you heard about what a great actor he was, and ABC is milking this for all it's worth. They keep talking about the final episodes of 8 simple rules to dating my teenage duagther. I remember when Redd Foxx died on the set of his TV show, he didn't get half the attention or the press that John Ritter has got now. I think that the media is making him more that he was.
So is John Ritter's death overrated?

the difference being that Redd Foxx was old and in poor health when he died on the set. Ritter was relativly young and on the surface, healthy.

I wasn't schocked by Foxx's death. It's like hearing Reagan died tomorrow and saying "Really, I didn't know he was sick."

No one saw Ritter's death coming, therefore, no I don't think it's overrated.

He was at best an average actor. No one really cared about him while he was alive.

I agree. It seems that ABC is milking his death for the sake of ratings. One week it was "A tribute to John Ritter" and now it's "See John Ritter Last episode".

The one thing I learned though is that John Ritter was married to Amy Yasbeck of "Wings". I always thought she was hot. John was one lucky guy.

John Ritter aka Jack Tripper will always be in our hearts.

Now if Joyce DeWitt or Suzzane Sommers past away...would there be all this hoopla?

It doesn't help that 8 Simple Rules is an awful, awful show.

I agree with that Redd Foxx was older and in poor health and John Ritter's death was sudden...however it's has been almost a month since he died and there still talking about it and hyping him up like he was the great actor that ever lived

they were talking about Foxx for weeks after he died too, old cast member interviews, and other comedians. It's called ratings.

A month? I thought he died like last week the way ABC keeps hyping up the show.

What's going to be the promo for next week- "Watch how the show that John Ritter loved copes with his loss, a final farewell tribute from the cast and staff".

Do I smell A Comedy pyramid?
