California Inventor Crafts His Own Super-Scooter
Oct. 8- Not many people own Segways. Even fewer build them. But build one Trevor Blackwell did.
""I built it out of standard pieces of aluminum," he said.
"Regular" parts - wheelchair motors and radio-control car batteries - work just fine in his self-balancing scooter. Blackwell's wheels are stamped steel, not the Michelin-manufactured "engineering-grade thermoplastic" you find on real Segways. And Blackwell used just one gyroscope instead of the five in the Segway."

Pretty interesting, this guy made his own Segway scooter at home for much cheaper than the real thing.
