i don't think so, i used to do it just on principle because whoever's computer i was on at the time, was not smart enough to check anything deeper. Now my laptop is like routinely checked by my college, so i'm screwed.

clear your cache. All your stuff is still in your registry, so you might want to download one of those programs that could delete them. It's pretty much impossible to delete this stuff completely off your computer. But dont worry, as long as you're of legal age and lookin at legal stuff, you shouldnt worry, as long as you clean it up as best as you can.

there is more to worry about:
index.dat is not cleared when you dump cache (http://www.acesoft.net/winspy/index.dat%20viewer/index.dat_viewer.htm)

I also delete Temporary internet files, clear my cache, and use Adaware and do regular Windows updates and have a secure firewall. I know there is a better one than adaware that I remember Horde King talking about once, but I cant find the thread he recommended it in. I also delete my cookies every few days, its in Tools in Internet Explorer and choose Internet Options. I also run Norton updates every 3 or 4 days and really try and keep up on the cookies. I know most people dont do this stuff, but Im paranoid I guess

my post about index.dat is a cautionary tale as I stumbled across it's existence about ayear ago and
1 - not a lot of people know about it
2 - no one outside of Redmond know why it's there
if Microsoft sold a wrench that put the lugnuts on your car but forgot to mention that it didnt attach all of them, people would freak.
food for thought....

Bill, do you use it? I heard about it and was very curious about it, I heard Tom Martino talking about that about a year ago (the fact that everything you visit is stored somewhere) its also the same area that the FBI will look into when they search the computers of people who commit crimes, as it captures everything. Im also concerened about it because these things take up room and eventually slow a computer down to a crawl and you have to go buy a new one every 3 years or so, and you havent used a tenth of the space on your hard drive! Please share whatever you have learned, as I am fascinated by it!

You're looking for spybot
But doing all that won't clear everything. Be sure to run anti-viral on a weekly basis. You may want to get Norton Systemworks to tune and defrag your system.
Also note how the address bar autocompletes URLs. As someone recommended above, you'll want a program to clear that out too.

hyperspace, Is this at home? If it's your own Internet connection you're cool, but if it's a work or somewhere else, you can clean the PC all you want but the internet traffic can still be monitored.

Jon, most of the stuff that you can find in Internet Explorer can be changed in Internet Options. I always clear my history, delete my cookies and clear my cache. And I make sure my history is set to 0 days and my cache is set to 70MB. I also learned that turning off Auto-complete is my best bet, because when I used to have it on, and someone was using my computer to look somthing up (maybe on google) and I searched for "big dick" (maybe to post a picture for JohneeWadd), big dick would pop up and it would make me look really gay.

Most if not all of our computers contain tracking software that can not only log where weve been, it can transmit the data back to companies to use.
And you agreed to it every time you take the 0.0000234092 seconds to glance at the
"I Have Read and Agree to the Conditions and Terms of...."
and then click "I AGREE" or "ENTER"
well, many of those conditions and terms include the right to track websites that you visit, ths SpyBot program was quite an eye-opener for me.
