That's the best move possible!
Before Ritter died, "8 Rules" was a medicore show that maybe 6 people watched at best. But as soon as Ritter died, you'd think it had the potential to be the next "Dick Van Dyke Show" or something. The producers aren't dumb...get a formerly beloved but mostly forgotten celebrity to get on the show and then have them kick the bucket. Then the public, in some twisted form of "guilt" for having stopped paying attention to these B-listers years ago, will tune in like the faithfully predictable droves they are. GENIUS.
