I'm gonna go on the record and say that shock poster is OK with me. And not in a sarcastic way. He started a few annoying posts, but did start a bunch of OK ones too.

I suspect him of being an already established poster, and Jon seems to be able to back it up, but who cares. He has been one of the few people starting new discussions, and for that I am glad. Sometimes a "whatever is on your mind" post is healthy. And I do think that if someone with more posts that we know started it, the thread would have been received more positivly.

First of all the whole point was to be fake. Who picks a name like shock poster. Most people figured it was fake after the first two threads.


And most weren't inane. Good ones included - NHL, CD's, internet porn, Vermeil and more.

The inane one's were inane on purpose. It's not much fun to be a shock poster if you don't post stupid threads about beer or weed or sex.

And I will defend "Some chick slobbered on my knob" til the death. Very proud of that one. Not exactly shocking but I thought it was appropriate at the time.

This is nothing personal against bamanation.

He posted excessively, and he posted like a tool. Sure, some of his threads were okay, but he made all of those posts in a very short period of time. I just get annoyed when people get tooled on and start arguing that post count = respect. My point is that although he got tooled on more because he is a newbie, if he was an established poster with this level of activity (and so much of it that added nothing to the board), he would've gotten tooled on. Look at johneewadd -- he has thousands of posts, yet when he decided to post BBC stories like mad without any comment, people called him on it.

Many newbies come in and post, and don't get tooled on (at least not by me). It's the ones who bring it on themselves that are the most noticed, however.

I like you and your staggering post count, Moe, and I think you add a lot to the board. However, if you spent a day and a half posting like shock_poster, I'd be annoyed with you, too.

Since everybody else is giving their opinion, I am going to stick my 2 cents in. What I find even more annoying than inane threads and fake posters is stupid, arrogant, inane responses. People make up false screen names and post under them to get a rise out of board members. Ironically the people that fuel them the most are the very people that are bothered by them the most. If they didnt get responses from them, they wouldnt keep doing it. If you dont like it, go to the next thread. Too many people here feel they have the right to judge whats inane and stupid and maybe more people here should just worry about their own crap that they are posting.
