View Full Version : Do you polish your shoes?

I used to LOVE to polish my boots. I haven't had a pair of shoes or boots that require polishing in a while. Man do I miss it. I'd cake it on a little thicker on the front, set it on fire then brush it off. Finally, I would take the cloth and do the fast polish you see shoeshines do. I could see my fucking reflection in them. My black Timberland boots were THEY FUCKING SHIT!

i haven't polished shoes in 21 years and even then i couldn't get it right... i was in Navy booth camp and got a used pair of boots that were pretty dull...
they wanted us to spitshine them but i couldn't 'get the knack'... some other Company Commander stopped us when we were marching and threw a question in my face "who is the secretary of defense" i nervously blurted out the right answer and as he was walking away he looked down at my boots and told my Company Commander who scheduled me for 'early morning' exercises with my rifle.

good times!

Fire is key. I heat the waxed shoe over the stove till it's runny and make the shine cloth jump.
In addition, I have a pair of shoes that are somewhere between cordovan and tan that I couldn't find the "right wax for". Since they didn't have that "waxed look", I used A1 sauce to get them "church ready"for a funneral I was attending, I liked the results so much I've done it for "all the funnerals" I've attended in my family over the last few years.

Nothing beats an "Orphan Shine". Find a raggedy little, sad-looking kid with a shine box and get him to shine your shoes.

Then laugh as you walk off without paying him.

I prefer "bootlicking"

They need to make a suede shoe polish. Suede rules. Suede is soft. Girls line up to touch my suede

They make suede cleaners and brushes to raise its nap. Polish would defeat the whole purpose of suede.

I only polish my riding boots. I spit polish them, which I suppose is a similar idea to the heating the polish method as the spit and heat from your hand warm the polish until it's soft.

He liked it so much, he killed people just to have an excuse to shine his shoes.

Yeah, I shine my nice leather shoes.
I like to look spiffy when I go out.
I kinda like the surprised expression on people's faces when they see me in snazzy garb when they are used to seeing me during the day in my work clothes.
Chicks dig well shined shoes.
Sadly, there aren't any more old black men on the street here to give a man that dee-luxe spit shine (sigh).

I would polish my boots all the time, not that they really needed to be polished. I just liked the polish fumes.
