I found out through some eavesdropping that my boss is being promoted to a new position in my company. Where I work, we were recently taken over and there's been a lot of shaking up and everyone's been on edge since the whole thing.
The way it seems by what I heard is that he will have this new position which I don't know if it means that I will lose my job. I directly report to my boss and no one else aside from higher ups, I am working in an executive level in my current job. I'm now really worried that I'm going to lose my job, or if his replacement isn't located where I work if I will have a job very soon.

Since I found this out in a rather sneaky way I can't discuss it with him. But it has me freaked out. I've worked at this company for over 8 years now. I've put plenty of time in and worked my ass off to advance as I have. If I lose my job I have no idea what I'm going to do. I'm glad to have found out on my own so I have time to prepare, but I'd just the same prefer to know that my job is safe or he'll get me a new job somewhere else in the company. I really hope for that.

You could bring it up and say that you've heard that he's getting a promotion, etc. You don't have to say how you heard.

Or you could just say that with the take over you are concerned what's going to happen to you and your job.

Good luck man, I hope it works out.

I agree with Zoom... be open with your boss.. the same thing happened to me and i talked to my boss about it nad found out that they were actually promoting me with her since i was her admin.. it put my mind at ease and i also got the good news sooner. Dont always think the bad.. unless there is a reason you will be let go then you probably wont

What....Wierd works for me!!!

8 years is not a very long time in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps you will end up leaving on your own accord, once you see how you will be treated now that your boss will no longer be working with you - these companies have a way of making you miserable should they want to do so.

(anyone here can make me a nice sig pic?)

sound like you got some good avice already... i would just suggest not letting your boss know that you found out about the promotion. just voice your concern about your own position. he should mention his promotion to you and if he doesn't mention it then it's probably something he was told not to tell anyone or he just chooses not to let it out just yet.

Best Of Luck!
