Sorry, my fault. I didn't know until Thursday night -too late- that Monty didn't have a PA or soundguy or nothin', and WJFK isn't prepared to mike a band properly (plenty of board, not enough mics or stands and NO processing), so all I had to mike 'em with was the dopey gaff-taped X-Y pair of SM-81s you saw (or heard) on the speaker stand next to the KJs. VERY last-minute (like, 6:45). So yeah, that sucked cock. Sorry. Next time it'll be better, promise.

Drive + Winds + Traffic = I turned around at the Turnpike Entrance; I had to be back this morning, and a 7 hour round trip without traffic would have been easy; it was much worse.

Wendell,

You and I know to really Mic a band means DI boxes and all that shit; and in the end, often the clean sound is worse then what the ambient Mics pick up. They have a garage band sound; so it fit in fine. They rocked; they sounded like the perfect band for an event like this, who wants squeaky clean guys playing pop? We need cool bands like this and Crankcase.

And whatever audio problems they mentioned early on must have only been in the room; it sounded fine here. Actually better; I guess Fez didnt meander into the Nuetral Zone near the Skee-Ball where last time the wireless Mics had too much interference [hey, Wendell warned them!].

I will say this; it's tough to judge the R+F crowd early on. Lets face it, like Ron said last time; its 7pm and we're in a mall; how much of a party atmosphere is that? Its kidding, but some people tend to stand sheepishly in the back and watch, and those people gotta learn how to get up front and make some Noyz for the Boyz. You could tell they it was a lot of people, I guess maybe they were shy like last time, I'm sure the drinks help the crowd response as the night goes on.

Then again, having been to so many of these; maybe it's best that the crowd comments aren't so easy to hear. Probably have to dump out all the time.

It was much more than there for the movie night; my friend said it was about twice as many as were there for the first D&B show in August; can anyone else confirm or deny that???

It was packed from the front all the way to the back, and out the door. I had a great spot and didn't move most of the night, except to go back and see Silera and Alkey at the poker tables.

The buddies kept the show going strong - I was concerned they had over planned, but (if you heard) everything timed out well, thanks to J. Dubs, AJ, Jafter, Wendell and Wonder Boy, among others. It seemed well produced.

Ok...these don't really count as details, but here's something...

* The Newliwed Game/Honeymooners game - it was hysterical. Some of the best lines of the night were R&F at the expense of the four couples, all of which seemed to have a great time.

* The Fire and Ice Challenge - Again, J. Dubs proves why he's so important to the show, and Crazy Jen did an amazing, nutty job - even cracky Fez up pretty good.

* Another Child Is Touched - When will people learn not to bring small children within 100 feet of Uncle Fez?

* THe Gong Show - Did it go on too long for the radio? It was two segments worth of mostly singing, most of whom got gonged. Cherry drove everyone wild with her popsicle trick - something Fez also seemed comfortable doing. Elfish rocked and ruled. Perry...well...better luck next time. Hairy Elvis must not have watched the old Gong Show - comedy acts always went bad. Wonderboy dressed as the Bee Girl from the video didn't really do it for me...not nearly as funny as J. Dubs. Personally I liked the Janus Joplin sounding chick, but the fat Asian guy doing Vanilla Ice pulled that act out of his ass; no one could believe the transformation when the music started. Hysterical. Glad he won.

* The Mating Game - By the time this rolled around the energy level seemed to be waning, but the weird dynamic kind of helped.

Other little moments...the mosh pit during the Monty Love...Ron hiding in the crowd as he talked with Fez...the reference to sex in a church (or a religious school) - the looks on the JFK people's faces were priceless ...Fez and the popsicle...Fez downing the beer before giving what was left to Jen, before she dumped it on her...J. If it was weekly it wouldnt be nearly as good.
I dont disagree, in that Id love it to happen weekly.
But, weekly live events would start to suck it proper and drain our boys like a bit of forced feminization and CBT trample episodes including needles.

If there was a way to do it every week w/o it getting old, Id love it and might actually show up.

Well it was great seeing all of the familiar faces Zardoz, Rage, Fidel, KOP, KC, Yerdaddy, stickyfingers and all the regulars that come out. It was very cool to meet some more of our NY crew Silera ( I hope you are feeling better), Alkey (very cool guy I don't know how you can go out all night drive home and go straight to work), GrlNIN (glad you could make it down and we got to meet a few more people this time), winnie cooper ( good job singing you did great), Gary Wyze ( didn't really get a chance to talk but maybe next time), To Sileras guardian angel winnie cooper I hope you had a fun time.

There were many others and unfortunately I have a horrible memory for names. It was a great turnout.

I wish we could have gotten the area where the pool tables are so we had more room to play poker. The room was very crowded and we had to squeeze in an extra poker table in because demand was so high to play. Thanks Jason

Ron and Fez seemed to have a good time and it was nice to meet Ronnies family.

Wendell you did a great job you are the Macgyver of WJFK you can work with any equipment and with your trust swiss army knife and a piece of gum the show will also go on.

There is no way Ron and Fez should do these weekly there is to much stuff to do to get ready for these shows and it would burn out very quickly.

I also want to say "Thank you to the entire WJFK staff" for being so great to me and my wife. She had a good time.

Finally to my main man AJinDC, you came through like a champ thanks for all of your help with the poker tourney.

I know...I know...I'm just jealous that the NY crowd has the weekly Bar 9, and nothing like that's been really started here. And besides, for us in Virignia, D&B is such a fuster cluck to get to on a Friday during rush hour, so, no, of course that wouldn't make sense for every Friday. Bridges was an idea but that excludes some, and Perry's bowling idea was shot down because another radio show did that two years ago.

I'll take the once a month or every other month event - whatever I can get, I'll be happy about it. Whatever keeps them happy - you know I'm all about their sanity foist.

Jafter - how did this crowd compare to the first Dave and Busters?

what i learned at before, during, and after Dave and Busters:

- I can get there in 3 hours
- Southern folk don't take kindly to our nawthern humor
- Who needs utensils?
- Don't go 'all in' on two pair on the 3rd hand of the night.
- Happy hour prices can be extended past the hours of happiness
- GaryWyze is comedically inclined
- Carrots don't digest for 12 hours
- Crab Cake Melts are not all that good
- Johnny Walker Black is stronger than me
- Gay, British looking bass players are hot (hot enough to set off fire alarms)
- Working for the show requires one to check his dignity at the door
- All I can ask for in a BJ is that it be adequate.

It was nice to see the familiar faces (Jafter, Yerdaddy, KC in DC, Rage Cage, Capt Clown, Perry and Cherry) but I was glad to finally meet some of the New Yorkers: ADF, Alkey, Silera, Gary Wyze, grlNIN, Winnie Cooper and Stickyfingers (nice to see you again). All were very cool people I hope to see again.
