I'd ask the rules concerning a dual-handed picher. If he decides to switch arms during an inning, can someone bring him a glove? If so, does it count as a visit to the mound? If not, can he elect to wear no glove and set the original one behind him? would he have to hold the glove in his other hand somehow? Would he be able to carry the other glove in his pant leg?

What would you ask?

funny thing; i too was pondering dual-handed pitcher today. we will probably see it in our life time, but i believe the tv networks will make a big push for it to become league wide in a short period of time.

i think it would be considered an equipment change, like a broken bat. in turn, this making the games 4.5 hrs on average, b/c of the time required to make that change. more time to advertise- yeah!

but, they could use a tool belt like device to hang them from. i don't believe you could just leave it on the field for someone to potentially create an error by tripping over it.

They could just throw the gloves to each other from the dugout to the mound.

Sure they could do that, they could also just walk it to the mound, but i need to know what the rules are here.

I would ask a question concerning punting in football or punt coverage. Here it is:

When trying to down a football on the 1 yard line a team accidently knocks it from the one yard line into the end zone, therefore a touchback. Well, what about if they touch the ball at the 31 yard line and accidently hit it toward the end zone to say the 25 yard line. In that case the refs would spot the ball at the 31 yard line. Why wouldn't the first one have the same rules and the ball stay at the 1 yard line?

actually, there was a dual handed pitcher in montreal a few years back. they had just made a 6 fingered glove so that the glove worked on both sides. i dont know the actual rule, but im sure any pitcher would do it that way

sticky, that ones tricky. its so guys cant dive an touch a ball headed in. its the same as you cant intentionally fire a ball out of bounds to stop the clock, even if you say you fumbled. thats why, it goes to the spot of the touch when it dies, but a dead ball in the endzone is a touchback no matter where the down spot would be

changing from left handed to right handed pitching is a change in delivery and therefore a balk.

its only a balk while your in the motion. if you throw a pitch righty, then next pitch you throw lefty, its not a balk. its a balk if you start a pitch righty and somehow still throw it lefty

one of the biggest 'double-standards' in football is when an offensive player who is carrying the ball is allowed to grip a defensive players facemask or places his hand on a defensive players facemask while he is administering a stiffarm. i don't see much difference at all when compared to 'the hands to the face' penalty that offensive and defensive lineman receive and the defensive facemask penalty...

no FUNK, an offensive player cant grab. a stiff arm must be open hand, if they grip it is indeed a penalty

i've seen alot of grabbing and pushing up on the defensive guys mask but you 'never'(because i've never seen) see a penalty called...

yea offensive pass interference is against the rules too, if they called it, moss and toomer would be outta the league

If a pitcher switched from righty to lefty he could always use the Jim Abbott method where positioned the glove on his stump, then quickly put it on after throwing the pitch.

I saw a play the other day that made me go hmm...

a player hit the ball sharply to the 3rd baseman, ball goes off his glove toward the stands almost straight across from the 3rd base bag (basically ricocheted off the player) and a fan touches it, they only award the player 1st base. If that same ball was hit down the left field line and had ticked off the 3rd baseman's glove and a fan touches it there is no doubt they give the runner 2nd base. Why did he only get to 1st?

Sounds like the ump screwed up.

(g) Any bounding fair ball is deflected by the fielder into the stands, or over or under a fence on fair or foul territory, in which case the batter and all runners shall be entitled to advance two bases;

It sounds like the umps mande a mistake. If he were on the
path between 1st and 2nd, he definately would have gotten 2nd.
But that should have beena ground-rule double.

And
Funk, the reason that a hands to the face penalty is rarely called
against the offense, is because NFL officials are instructed to look
the other way on a lot of offensive penalties. The league is
obsessed with offesnive production, to a fault it you ask me.
They have been doing almost everthing possible in the last 5 or 6 years
to try and make the 99 rams or 04 colts type teams the norm.
