Where is it in Philly? Anyone have an exact address or at least know the museum where it is?
And do they still have that statue from Rocky 3 standing there in front of it?

That would be the Art Museum right off the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The statue was moved to in front of the Spectrum at Broad and Pattison after the film ran it's course.
You can access the Benjamin Franklin Parkway at the Spring Garden exit off of I-76. Coming down I-76 you can't miss the Art Museum.

Speaking of monumental stairs, in 7th grade I went on the freshmen field trip to DC. So we're coming out of the Lincoln Memorial, and this kid in my class goes tumbling down the steps and breaks his leg in 2 places. He has the weirdest cry I've ever heard.
I still see that kid in the neighborhood every once in awhile. He thinks he's hot shit, but I remember him crying like a bitch after breaking his leg.
pussy!

sigh...
when Rocky came out, I saw it in theatres with my parents. Whats it, 1977? Anyway, does anyone else remember, or maybe it was just me, how Insane people went when this was out?
Half the kids in my class were chugging raw eggs, that stupid 'Gonna Fly Now' playing every 15 minutes somewhere...
But lemme say, people might forget about that first movie. Unless you knew about bit Woody Allen parts or The Lords of Flatbush, you had never even seen Stallone, much less heard of him.
Ok i'm going off course... what I'm saying is:
When I saw it in the theatre, the very first week it was out; people were freaking out. By the time of the fight, people were biting their nails on the edge of their seat. The fight scene looks SO dated now; they filmed it in an almost empty Spectrum, and has none of the special effects sounds of the later movies.
During the first round, Apollo Creed is taunting Rocky, dancing around him, glove in his face, totally taunting Rocky, and he hauls off and floors Creed.
In the theatre I was in, about half of the audience started literally screaming and cheering, about half of them were standing. Like a real fucking fight! I myself, as a kid, am watching two guys faces turn to hamburger, and lemme tell ya the first time you see the 'Cut me Mick scene'...
Wow I am So Fawning over this movie. Maybe it's because in the two weeks following that I went to a theatre myself and saw it again. About 10 more times. Go figure. I was obsessed.
How bad? From memory:
Rocky Fanfare begins at Black Screen
The letters R_O_C_K_Y scroll past
Fade In: A crucifix of Jesus Christ
Camera goes from close-up of crucifix, to long shot of the shit Ring where a fight is going on...

Something tells me you aren't going there site-seeing. You know, if you got a shot glass from every city across this great land that you visited to chase down a piece of ass, you'd have a pretty formidable collection right now. Just a thought.

Look for Rocky's footprints in cement at the top of the stairs.

yeah, but watching a bunch of overweight idiots trying to run up the stairs is more amusing than inspirational.

A buddy of mine lived in center city Philly for a few years and whenever I visited, you could see the obvious tourists running up the museum stairs.
If you're going to go to Philly, why not go into the museum and see some art?
