So it appears that the BoSox have put Manny on waivers. I'm not a diehard Red Sox fan, but I would think that money should be the only issue here. Any stupid/wussy actions should be ignored when compared to the benefits of having him in the lineup. I was wondering how others felt about this.

they should keep him

so it looks like Bernie might have to learn to play second now that Manny, Matsui, and Vlad might be in the Yankees outfield. :) Fucking unbelievable

Yeah the Boston Herald and NY Times are reporting it.

I think its a bad fucking idea. He's the best player on the team (and top 5 in the league) coming off of an amazing season, he has about five more years left on his contract and its possible that Nomar will be going to the Dodgers this or next season.

The Sox just raised ticket prices again (already had the highest in the league). Getting rid of a player like Manny won't help with me paying to get in.

I'd miss Manny's offense but I can live without the weak arm, drama, and fat contract.

Manny is a one dimensional player. His defense, baserunning, and attitude suck. I pray to God Steinbrenner is NOT interested, please no.

Maybe we can trick the Yankees into taking him, just like we did 70 years ago with that guy Ruth.

Manny would look so good on the Mets, but the management doesn't have the balls to get him. When Sheffield was available for Payton and Benetez, the Mets said he wasn't good for the clubhouse and wasn't the "kind of player the Mets want." What's that? A talented player? Sheffield would have ruled here the way he has for the Dodgers and Braves this season. I'm just tired of the Mets' way of thinking. Bring Manny here!

can we stop these dillusions. manny wont go to the yankees. he said when he went to boston it was to beat the yankees, he hates them, he wont go there.
2, Vlad will not be a yankee, and all of you can come back and say sorry to me in february when im the only one who was right about the fact he'll be playing for the expos next year. he couldnt hack in in NY
Sheffield is your best bet, but with the year he had, and finally being happy somewhere, id bet he stays in ATL, assuming they pay him. if they dont, watch for the mets to steal that one

If the yanks are smart, get 2 starters, a couple relievers, trade soriano for a solid young outfielder, sign tejada and move him or jeter to second base

If the Red Sox were smart they would do this...

They want to dump Manny and his 20 million dollar salary.

The Texas Rangers are said to be interested in offers for Alex Rodriquez who is making 25 million per year.

The Sox offer Manny (who is arguably the best hitter in baseball) and a decent pitcher like Casey Fossum for A-Rod.

But what about Nomar? The Sox already have a star shortstop. However Nomar is going into a free agent year next year (I believe) and has told Sox management that he wants to test the free agent waters.

Make the trade for A-Rod. Move Nomar for some pitching prospects. You can now sign Pedro because you could not sign both Pedro and Nomar.

It makes sense to me.

they cant, manny is on irreversable waivers, meaning someone will either pick him up and his salary, or he is released, the sox pay his buy out, and he is free to sign with anyone

the sox are fucked, they have more problems then they know. james is right, trade nomar, get some pitching, maybe they too should make a play at tejada knowing nomar wants to leave, that way he is available to be traded. maybe boston will go after sheff too now that they dont have manny.

and yankee fans, dont be so suprised if, and i dont think this will happen, but the yanks try to sign javy lopez cause ya know, he had one huge year, he must be a star, and try to trade posada or posada with soriano for a right fielder or a second baseman and then try to get sheff to play right.

just remember, Vald aint goin anywhere, he is far too comfortable with far too little pressure to leave

Power hitter vs. more pitchers? Yeah, that's worked out well over the past 85 years.

I know -- I just worry that management will repeat the mistakes of the past.

If I was Theo, I'd go after Pettitte.

Forget Tejada. Sox have a guy in the minors at SS who's supposed to be great. Get what you can for Nomar now. Send him to LA or San Diego. He's a California kid anyway.

you cant send him, he is an FA after this year, and he will leave. if they dont trade him now, they wont get shit for him. get tejada, teach that kid to play second or the outfield like cabrera

Snoogy, youre braindead. point one:

move him or jeter to second base

Even suggesting Jeter would move anywhere is totally ubsurd.

And who should get Tejada? A team that makes the post season? HE SUCKS!!

aight johnee, cause soriano was so fuckin money this oct. if jeter wont move, move tejada, but anything jeter can do to win you know he will, even if they need to ask him to move, he would do it, hes a gamer. will they, no, i was presenting their best move, not what they will do. they are gonna move soriano to the outfield, and they shouldnt. trade him while you can get something and dont deal with it

tejada is far better than soriano, for he has hit semi decent in Oct and oh, he can fuckin catch

I am with you on that one Snoogans. Vlad has already stated he does not want to play in a big city. He is content and happy where he is. The only smaller market option would be Baltimore. Vlad in Yankee pinstripes would be a tragedy.

Teams had better act quick on the Ramirez thing cause the deadline is tomorrow at 1 PM. Looks like Boston is just testng the market. Why else if not just his attitude would the Sox put him on the waivers. Someone called in to WIP in Philly today asking about it and the Philies would be stupid to take on another selfish outfielder. I think all teams would want a team player. Me personally, I wouldn't want the headache. Word has it the Yanks aren't interested.
