The Yankees have just named Don Mattingly their new hitting coach now that the job was made available almost immediately after the world series!
As I told my roomate...this is FUCKING BRILLIANT! He was one of baseballs best hitters (before the back ailments started to get to him). I love it...the Captain is back!!!!!
I will go to EVERY game just to be able to see my hero in a Yankee uniform again and watch him finally earn that ring he so richly deserves!
Wow....Steinbrenner finally made a GOOD deciscion right out of the gate!

Excuse me while I go take care of myself now.

OK do you really think that getting a new hitting coach makes a difference in winning a championship though? Hitting coach might have the highest "rank on a baseball team: actual ability needed" ratio of any other position. I understand that you'd be excited over Donnie Baseball coming back, but it won't mean squat when it comes to the actual workings of the team.

Well considering he was not only one of the best hitters the Yankees have had in the last 20 years but he also was good at clutch hitting...I would say he is a valuble member of the team? You think these players leanred everything by themselves?
And the yanks hit .140...JUST .140!!! with runners on base...that sucks and it means they needed a better coach.
