How do I stop popups ads?

I never know when "Enlarge Now" is going to pop up on my screen anymore so I keep it dim.

Just download the google toolbar from google.com they have a pop up blocker option, and you have a nice little google search right on your tool bar.

Just download the google toolbar from google.com they have a pop up blocker option, and you have a nice little google search right on your tool bar

You can tell TC is pissed because all she did was post links to the threads. Why it bothers her so much is beyond me, personally I don't care when I see duplicate posts, I don't see why she needs to be a board police officer of duplicate posts, but I guess that's her thing.

My own feeling on pop-up blockers is that they're all flawed and will always be. Instead I just close them as I see them. I've played with my share of blockers and have never found them to be 100% useful because while they block stuff you want blocked, they will also block parts of websites that have features and content I need to get to. It's an annoyance that I think we'll always have to deal with unforuntatly.

I think the problem with the search feature is that it just shows the headers to the threads. There was a time on the board when the search results yielded the topics that whatever you were searing for were in as well as some of the contect of the message. The way the current search results work now it just gives you a link to the whole thread. Sometimes the thing your searching for won't appear until 12 pages later or whatever. The point is though that I think that for some people the search feature isn't as friendly as it once was. I know you were able to find the topics to this particular thing, but not everyone is a whiz with search engines. Many people I know hate using search engines. I don't quite understand why that is that they're like that myself, but that's just the way it is.

Regardless, I did some searches on computer magazines sites and here are links to reviews of pop-up ad blockers that you may want to read up on to determine which one you want....

Perhaps what you're missing is that I was talking in general. Not in particular to the discussion. I should have noted that. But I myself on a few occasions have looks for things in topics and the search results didn't give the info I was looking for and I had to dig around to find it. What I'm saying is that for others it may be that it's not user friendly. If I'm wrong than why the proliferation of multiple topics all over the place? My guess is [a:] that people are too lazy to look, or [b:] that people have had negative experiences with the search feature and have decided not use it.
