Proposal For A New Forum [Archive] - RonFez.net Messageboard

Okay, we'll call it "The Parking Lot", and it'll be where people take their board fights. Let's say a thread is going along just fine, but then two, or three, or even four people start to go at it... but what they're talking about has nothing to do with the thread it's in. Then we can say "Take it outside boys" or "Settle this in the Parking Lot". And that's where they can go.

And it'll be a dark, wet parking lot... Like the one in Fight Club.

We actually tried this a couple of times in the early days of the board. The forum was called "The Steel Cage" if memory serves me correctly.

The problem was that fights that were either started or continued there did not remain confined to that forum. Then the mods get bombarded with e-mails from each participant in the pissing contest begging us to ban the other guy.

In the end it's a lot more trouble than it's worth, and the simple "no fighting on the board" rule is really the only way to go.
