Anyone else playing this game? I'm in the middle of part 2 (I only get an hour or two a night to game at most), and it's got all the cool violence and story of the first one with bullet time 2.0. It's cool to gun down a group of guys and get additional bullet time as you knock each of them down.

really. GTA 3 was stauton island/jersey city and vice city is supposed to be miami, and both have little shit added thats not really there like certain islands and such
the original GTA for the comp was all over here, eaglewood and hackenslash and kings and Brocklin and shit, then they had san andreas which was LA and then vice city, and they were each levels in the original game. they didnt seperate them till 3

so in essence, GTA 3 and Vice City werent new games, just kinda remastered into 2 and soon to be 3 seperate discs from the original

liberty city equals jersey city because liberty city was the overall name of the NY level of GTA 1. since they no longer had more than one city per game in GTA 3, they just tagged one place with the liberty city name to keep the tradition. and the jersey city liberty city, the statue of liberty is tech in jersey not far from there, so they named it that

GTA 1 had Liberty city as board one, and individual town names in it like eagle wood and hackenslash and other ones for the city's boroughs.
level 2 was called vice city in the first game, and the individual parts were named lkike the areas down there in miami.
then level 3 was called san andreas, and took place in all the little LA type areas.
so expect the next GTA to be set in SoCal

its the area you dolt. it wasnt literal, its not allowed to be.
in GTA 1, Brocklin, Kings, Stauton Island, i forget what the bronx one was called and then what was the equivilent to the second island was law island and then what was equivalent to the third island was the jersey places. then when you beat that level, you went to vice city, which was indeed modeled after miami and then san andreas was la area.
when you play GTA 3, those are kind of mapped from actual places in real life. liberty was supposed to be a rough map of a part of JC, stauton a part of SI, and i think shorside vale was loosly a part of brooklyn. i dont mean necc what the areas actually look like, but the physical street maps in the game.

liberty island is basically a street map of a certain section of Jersey City, thats what i meant.
Vice city is the same way from that area, and so its a wise bet to say you will soon see GTA San Andreas or something along those lines modeled after the LA area

johnee, listen carefully. shoreside was brooklyn, stauton was staten, and liberty was jersey, the reasoning for that for 3 being those were the highest crime rated areas. from what i read from the programmers, they used the 3 highest crime areas that were in the original game. i guess jersey city has a little more crime then the parts up north more that were in the game

I'm about 5 hours in at most and I have to be past the halfway point already. I beat the original in under 10 hours over the course of one weekend. They're great games, but way too fucking short.

payne came out before GTA 3 on what platform, not PS2 i know that. payne came out about 8 months after GTA 3 on PS2
and i dont mean the point of the game. i mean, aside from bullet time which to quote someone else but i forgot who, isnt really cool once you see it in some dumb swedish music video. but aside from that, the game looks comepletely the same. the guy looks the same physically as the GTA guy. i just hated that, i know the point is diff, but it pisses me off that they cant even try hard and make it look different

And to answer a couple questions I forgot to answer earlier...

There are dream sequences to open every Part, like in the first game, but there are no blood trails to follow. Damn, those things suh-uh-ucked. No mazes either (another one I hated), just weird shit and warped perception.

There is a fire level. A building is blowing up all around you. It works well though, so I have no complaints about it.

I made it into part 3 last nite, and I'm afraid I may finish the game tonite. It's really good, but so damn short.
