Bush's reelection fund now has over $100 million. Now thats a lot of money that can be used for actual important things. Is that much money really necessary in order to get reelection? Jeez, then how did they ever elect a president in the ol' days?
Individual citizens donated that money to him. People can do whatever they want with their money.

I understand people can do whatever they want with their money but to use it for electing a president? That just reeks of special interests and everything that is bad in politics.

I think any used car salesman can tell you, the shittier the car, the harder it is to sell.
Where did you get those numbers? Are they contributions the company made itself, or the totals of employee donations?
However, you're not really breaking any story here. I mean, just recently, we have the feds busting old people trying to buy prescription drugs in Canada and the SEC just gave Putnam a sweeheart settlement despite the Mutual Fund scandal.
And the Democrats are just as bad, but they are bitches for trial lawyers and unions.

I think we can all, irrespective of political ideaology, admit that people in the high eschelons of politics enjoy a steady stream of income. Bush does it now. Clinton did it when prez. And does it now getting $100K plus to speak at your event. And Bush 1 does it, and just about all of them before, and certainly everyone on the hill currently.

I like the numbers in the editorial by Graydon Carter in the latest Vanity Fair.
