A-Rod wins the MVP again.......

NEW YORK (AP) -- Alex Rodriguez became the second player from a last-place team to win a Most Valuable Player award, then confirmed that the Texas Rangers have approached him about a possible trade.

"Management has approached me with a situation and some choices, and I'm just going to keep my doors open right now," Rodriguez said Monday from Mexico during a telephone conference call.

Rodriguez received 242 points for the American League award in voting by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Toronto first baseman Carlos Delgado was second with 210 points, followed by New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada with 194.



I know he put up great numbers for a team that was not going anywhere...but is'nt an MVP supposed to be someone who helped his team go further BECAUSE he was there, like Tejada did last year? the Texas Rangers sucked this year and it did not make a difference if he was on the team or not.
I am just pleased that the voters recognized Jorge Posada, he never had a chance to win but this was his best offensive season in his carrer this past year. I am proud he even made 3rd.
But I am getting sick of A-Rod.

well depends what you think of as an MVP. A-Rod was a very valuable player to baseball. It was about how the voters percieved the term MVP. Delgado didn't make a difference either. Ultimately I would've had my ballot as Ortiz, Delgado, A-Rod because Ortiz was the ONLY guy out of the 10 that got first place votes that seemed to actually mean something to his team. Without him the Red Sox probably don't even make the playoffs. Then I would've went to just general domination. I think Delgado had something like 45 more RBI's than anyone else. I think I might've read that....

A-Rod won "By Default" which is kinda sad, like The Acedemy giving Oscars to stupid movies because the Actor deserved the award Years ago...

I would have voted for Shannon Stewart, myself. I think it's more than coincidental that the Jays sucked after they traded him and the Twins catapulted back into 1st place, albeit in the worst division in the MLB, but still...

This is like when they give the Academy Award to an actor based upon his body of work, not the actual piece of shit film he is nominated for.

I think that giving the MVP to ARod is a farce. The Rangers would have finished in last place without him anyway so how does that make him valuable to the team?

The baseball writers must all be High School sports editors because this decision sucked.
