Anyone have thought about this?

I heard the title track on the radio the other day. It has a much cleaner and clearer sound.

I always hated Phil Spector's overproduction on that album. That's why I loved those "Let It Be" tracks on the "Beatles Anthology 3" CD.

Stripping the album of the Spector production...good idea.

Doing ANYTHING else, including the hideous new title...BAD.

If there were ANY justice in the world, the smack-addled zombie of John Lennon would rise from the dirt and punch Macca in the throat for EVERYTHING he's done in the last 25 years.

When I first read about this I thought it was a brilliant idea. Strip the songs down to what they were originally intended to be... The Beatles playing together live like they did on their first few records. They wanted to leave in all the between song chatter & all the silly covers they attempted.

Up until a week or so ago I was still excited to hear the results, but then I read that 3 guys completely disassociated with The Beatles (or what's left of them) took the original 8-track tapes and Pro-Tooled them.

Now stop right there. I'm no purist or anything, but I know that stuff recorded on analog equipment back then should be mixed on analog equipment now. Digitally master it all you want, but at least try to keep it as close to the was it was recorded as possible.

I also read these 3 guys were gonna make sure the noise from the film crew and the wind on the rooftop would be digitally removed. That was the last straw. By "Naked" I thought we were getting "stripped" versions of the "Let It Be" sessions (which were originally the "Get Back" sessions) minus the Phil Spector production, but instead "Naked" means "bleached".

Oh, and they took off 2 songs, changed the order and added "Don't Let Me Down". When they sent the new "Let It Be" to "The Beatles" for their approval, there was not a single change requested. That tells me that a) they don't really care or b) they didn't even listen to it.

I heard there's a bootleg of the entire "Get Back" recordings which spans 9 discs. They could have edited what they had down to 2 or 3 discs of songs with some chatter thrown in. That was the impression I got when Paul McCartney announced they had the original masters from those sessions and "The Beatles" were going to release it as it was first conceived.

Feh. I'll keep my "Let It Be" fully clothed.

Glargh.

Someone come help me, because I've fallen to the floor and my legs refuse to work.
