View Full Version : Eminem Branded a Racist

I really don't believe Eminem is a racist. I believe The Source Magazine owner Benzino is just trying to run his name in the mud....He lost the battle Eminem and it's obvious he's just bitter... Benzino also plans on distributing the recording in an upcoming issue of The Source.
He said that he plans on holding Eminem to the same standard as "R. Kelly, Mike Tyson and Kobe Bryant"
Do you think he has a legit point?

So Em hangs out with black guys, promotes black rappers like 50 Cents, and was mentored by a black man, Dr. Dre. Sounds like a classic racist to me.

Benzino thought he was dropping a bombshell and all he delivered was a dud. Probably having a coniption right now over his inability to beat Em.
Is what 16-year-old Eminem said racist? Definitely. Is Eminem himself a racist? Doubtful. I think most people are capable of discerning the difference.

if only this board was an accurate sample of the population, then I wouldn't have to deal with Rufus and Tyrone thinking that they should aspire to be Fiddy. I hate rap, but honestly, Eminem is a mockery of rap. He does more harm to rap than good. I don't think saying racist things makes you a racist anyway.

Accurate in what way?
I hate rap, but honestly, Eminem ... does more harm to rap than good.
And how does hating a genre a music make you an expert in what's good for it or not. I, for example, have no idea why emo is supposed to suck.
Not that I hate rock music, but I'm definitely not knowledgeable enough about the genre to have any type of informed opinion.

That's because it was 1988 and he was 16 and he most likely did suck at the time.

yeah, i guess eventually one gets used to the screwed way i write. I just combine two sentences sometimes because i'm "retarded". Sorry.
I think it is obvious that Eminem is not really helping "rap" as much as he is helping himself. Ultimately he's cited as "just another rapper" for the comments he makes and it's not like he's bringing more of a white audience to rap music. The people who listen to rap would be listening to it no matter if there was Eminem or not. That's what i kinda meant by that.
And by my first comment I meant that a large majority of the board does not listen to rap. Accurate maybe wasn't the best word.

explanation? hes the best lyricist EVER!!!! and you have no idea how hard it is for me to say that Em is a better lyricist than Biggie, Big L, or Rakim. i love l, big, and rakim the god, but Em is a better lyricist. theres a reason the best rapper/producer ever signed him, you know? hes good. hes an amazing freestyler and the only person who battles better than Em is Royce. now that jay, and x retired and Nas soon will, hes the last true rapper out. once Em leaves we are stuck with chingy, nelly, and other rappers who talk but dont say shit. u may not like him, u may not like what he says, but he is a skilled lyricist.

well i guess i should've said the rap industry. I don't hate Eminem. I think he is talented, I just mean that he not helping the music form make money as much as he is helping Eminem make money. Even if i meant it the way you thought, he did help 50 Cent to get big.....and he's a "house negro". {ding ding ding}

In a word? No.
All he raps about is how angry he is, how everyone is out to get him and his mom, with very few exceptions. And that's the frustrating part, is that it's clear that he CAN easily rap about so much more...probably anything...but until he does, he can't be the tops. Same with Jay-Z. They limit themselves by sticking to the same topics over and over again.
Rakim? HE could rap about anything...and did. Still the king.

Eminem is fucking AMAZING with words. I'll agree that I'd like to see him cover more material, but his mastery of language and rythm is insane. I think with age, we'll see much more from him, and what we've gotten so far is beyond anything that rap has produced in the last 5-6 years.

yes his content leaves something to be desired, but he makes words rhyme that just shouldn't. thats all i mean when i say he is the best lyricist ever.
ie:
I ain't gonna eat, I ain't gonna sleep
Ain't gonna breathe, 'til I see what I wanna see
And what I wanna see, is you go to sleep in the dirt
Permanently, you just bein hurt, this ain't gonna work
For me, it just wouldn't be, sufficient enough
Cause we, are just gonna be, enemies
As long as we breathe, I don't ever see, either of us
Comin to terms, where we can agree
There ain't gonna be, no reasonin, speakin wit me
You speak on my seed, then me, no speak-a ingles
So we gonna beef, and keep on beefin, unless
You're gonna agree, to meet with me in the flesh
And settle this face to face, and you're gonna see
A demon unleashed in me, that you've never seen
And you're gonna see, this gangster pee on himself
I see you D-12, and thanks, but me need no help
Me do this one all by my lonely
I don't need fifteen of my homies
When I see you, I'm seein you, me and you only
We never met, but best believe you gon' know me
When I'm this close, to see you exposed as phony
Come on bitch, show me, pick me up, throw me
Lift me up, hold me, just like you told me
You was gonna do, that's what I thought, you're pitiful
I'm rid of you, all of you, Ja, you'll get it too!
and when i said he's the last true rapper out, i menat only big time rapper. im sorry i would love it if Hot 97 or Power played Necro but they just don't. yes underground rap is still amazing, but not mainstream enough to get big name producers, like dre, or timmy, or swizz. and as much as i hate beat-riders nothing is better than an amazing beat with amazing lyrics.

Alright, this is something i have been wondering for a long time now. And, now this isn't meant as a joke or anything, this is in complete seriousness, because i live in a building that is predominatly black and in the area of this town that is mostly black and latino. Anyway, my question i pose is this: do black people listen to eminem? i've asked some of the people that i know in this building and they all deny listening to him, and then when hes on mtv or such, its all white kids, and like half of them are 14 yr old girls.
So, do black people listen to eminem, and actually give him respect seriously?
Your doubt, it fuels me. Your hate, it drives me. The challenge ignites me. You make me fight harder.

it stunk just because he recorded over Royce's vocals from Renegades, and acted like he didnt steal it from Royce. and royce did a much better job on that song than Jigga. and he started a battle he couldnt win in Takeova. and i cant forgive kanye west for ever producing the flaming pile of crap that was H to the Izzo. girls, girls, girls? yeah that song was stupid as fuck. and he stole the title of this album from KRS, so how was this album good? hell how was this album original?

Actually never heard the Royce story. Dude can't catch a break. But you can't really blame Jay for using the beat. Blame Em for giving it to him. Plus Royce stole one of Kanye's beats recently, so I'd say he was even.
... he started a battle he couldnt win in Takeova.
I love Nas. I have every one of his cd's except I Am and Nastradamus. Blueprint is the only Jay-Z I was ever inspired to buy. Nas is easily one of my top three MC's. Seriously. I love Nas ...
... but Jay got that battle. Ether was blah. Super Ugly was the last ugly nail.
and i cant forgive kanye west for ever producing the flaming pile of crap that was H to the Izzo.
True.
girls, girls, girls? yeah that song was stupid as fuck.
Not true.
and he stole the title of this album from KRS
So ... BDP's "Ghetto Music: the Blueprint of Hip Hop" disqualifies anybody from using the word "blueprint" in their album title? Even though it wasn't the main title of their's?
so how was this album good? hell how was this album original?
It wasn't particularly original. It wasn't particularly groundbreaking. And I don't know if it's classic. All I know is, I'm not a Jay-Z fan. Hell, I'm still mad at him for making my home look stupid in the Big Pimpin' video. But for somebody who isn't a Jay-Z fan, it was the only album of his I had to have. That's why I say it far from sucks.
... although I could have done without the H to the Izzo's and the That Nigga Jigga's.
My brother has been shot.... I think it was an Asian gang.... there was this guy.... he was Asian.... they were speaking in some different language, I think it was.... Asian.

and how did nas lose the battle to jay? ether was crazy, so many jabs in so many ways, i think its the best battle record ever. and superugly wasn't that good. he had to resort to saying he fucked nas' girl.

that's part of what I meant. Ultimately the white kids who listen to Eminem are not all listening to rap in general. Sure there are some, but ultimately the fans are making the rap industry produce crap for them and it's not like there are that many more fans that were produced by Eminem.
