Oh no. From IMDB.com:

Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney will reportedly play TV private investigator Magnum PI in a big screen version of the 80s hit show. Pals of the actor say Clooney is desperate to take on the role made famous on the small screen by Tom Selleck between 1980 and 1988. They claim the mustachioed Magnum completes a "holy trinity" of roles Clooney has secretly coveted; "He's wanted to play three characters since he started acting - Danny Ocean in Ocean's Eleven, Hannibal in the A-Team and Magnum. He's had the A-Team movie in the works for a while now, so he's been chasing this one really hard." Hollywood sources say the film, which will begin shooting next year, will feature the brand new $800,000 Ferrari Enzo sports car in place of Magnum's classic Ferrari 308 Gts. But the identities of who will play Magnum's side-kicks Theodore 'TC' Calvin, Orville 'Rick' Wright and Jonathan Quayle Higgins III - played by Roger E Mosley, Larry Manetti and John Hillerman in the TV original - are being kept top secret. Manetti recently slammed plans to recreate the show without its original cast as "an outrage".

Must stop Clooney.

Computer, kill Clooney.

Desperate?

Is there some big list of A-list actors falling over each other the grab the brass ring of the coveted Magnum PI leading role?

Am I the only person who thinks George Cloony is a GOOD actor? I liked him in From Dusk til Dawn, Oceans 11 and YES I think he did a better job at Batman then Val Kilmer did!

I think Cloony is a perfect choice for Thomas Magnum. He is funny, handsome and he has a similar physique to Tom Selleck.
I just hope they do not put just ANY baseball cap on...he is not Magmun without the Detroit Tigers cap!

Yes, Clooney can act. O Brother Where Art Thou showed his range. But Mangum is a great TV show that stands on its own. I don't see the need for a movie.

Clooney rules, if only for "Out of Sight" and "Three Kings". Anyone denying those films is just stabbing their brain in its, uh, brain.

I'll only go see it if Clooney grows a giant funny mustache.Selleck himself could barely pull that shit off.

I didn't see anything, I didn't hear anything, I wasn't there and if I was there I was asleep.
