I was having some problems with my cellular phone recently I have a Motorola v60i phone, so I decided to get a new one. I love the Motorola but the call quality has been horrible. So I decided to get a new phone. Where I live in Huntington the coverage for the most part flat out sucks. I can barely use the phone out of my house. I went to the AT&T store and lodged another complaint about this problem. I have a digital phone because as sucky as it is, GSM phones don't work at all out of my house. So I look at the new phones and decide to get a Nokia 6560. It was a nice little phone, really light and had some cool features. Plus it worked much better out of my house than any other phone. My only problem was that the Motorola phone had features that the Nokia phone didn't have, features I really liked. Little by little I began to miss my old phone, so I decided to return the Nokia today. I exchanged it for a new version of my Motorola phone, a color version. It's very cool, my only problem. It SUCKS trying to use it out of my home. I'm so pissed I don't know what to do. I want to go back to the store and return it and get the 6560 again and live with the fact that some of the features aren't there that I've come accustomed to.

What's annoying to me most of all is that the quality of service varies from phone to phone. There's no consistency and I don't know why. Plus I feel like a fucking idiot to keep going back there and returning these phones. At this point I just want a phone that works.

By the way, I know there's a few threads about cell phone providers, but not specifically about problems with cellphones themselves (that I could find).

your problem is the fact that you have AT&T and not Verizon

The cooperation level between companies varies greatly. I do know that Nokia and AT+T Wireless have been working very well together. Before the flames begin, this is from Consumer Reports, so go string them up.

Yes Im biased because thats what I have; but from NYC to FLA; ive yet to have problems with the Nokia + AT&T Combo, for years. And I'm talking the low budget non-fancy phone here.

[Edit: Oh Yeah, here's another bias. The AT+T Kiosk store in the mall near here may well have the WORST Service EVER. So, it's been good phone service, but brain-dead Kiosk Salespeople Service.]

Nokia and AT&T do work well together where I live. It was much better than my piece of shit Ericsson phone with AT&T. That freaking phone never had a signal, even if I was sitting on top of a cell tower.

However, I switched to Nextel with a Motorola v90i and I haven't had a single problem. Besides the good reception, I really like the features. Direct connect really came in handy during the blackout.

I have att wireless and my service was spotty during the blackout - I'd have to dial 10-15 times before I'd get a line - didnt help me as my wife has att wireless as well so we couldnt hook up at all.

Most people didn't. During the blackout, all the cell towers that were working were jammed with the large number of people trying to make calls all at once.

Mostly, it was spotty. But the direct connect worked great. So there really wasn't a need to keep trying the cell lines.
