"High Colonics" are a deep-cleaning water treatment for the colon. A tube is put into the rectum and the colon is filled with water. Fecal matter softened and loosened by the water is drained through another tube. The same process is repeated a few times during a single treatment.

High Colonics have been heavily promoted as a therapy to cure all sorts of ills. However, there is NO scientific evidence showing that it has any health benefits whatsoever.

There is evidence however, that it can be dangerous. The colon's job is to reabsorb fluids, enzymes and minerals. High colonics can wipe out the minerals leading to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Further, high colonics can stretch the colon and cause it to lose some of its normal muscle function.

I would certainly not want to undergo a treatment with no proven benefits and potential health risks.
