Damn!

Not for nuthin but the Callers these days seem to take Forever to tell a story.

Last night show had some segment [game show?] where Ron ended maybe three calls in a row where people couldnt get to the point.

But if you have a story to tell, leave out the non-essential. Some people, when they call in [read: Me] get easily distracted, and go off on a tangent.

This is not just for the R+F show; since Music Radio is a oxymoron to me; I listen to talk radio. And sometimes people will just go off to the point where DJ's just start talking over them 'will this person ever get to the point?...' and the person doesn't even know it.

Sometimes funny cringe radio. But last night on R+F? Whoa! When Ron says 'I have NO idea what this is about' and Fez agrees and they just take the next call? Ouch. Sure wouldn;t want that to be me, and perhaps on a sub-thread for R+F callers:

Q: What's the worst you've ever screwed up while on-air calling in? Someone here couldn;t remember a coach of a team or something once, and beat themselves up pretty good.

Ever get cut off? Gotta love that!

Never got cut off, but I failed miserably at "The Crying Game", object: do or say something to make your kid cry on-air and win a year's worth of WWF (at the time) pay-per-view.

My toddler was napping & I tried to startle her awake. Nothing. I went so far as to pick her up & drop her about 4-6 inches onto my shoulder. Nada.

At least I knew enough to give it up right there instead of dragging it out. The next day I got clowned at work & labeled a bad parent.

I understand how many calls they get, so I always tried to be as brief as possible with Ron and Fez. I never got cut off.

But I did mess up a question on a segment where they were asking questions. The only WRONG answer was no answer, and I just couldn't think of a NFL coach's name, so I was given the Sheepy horn and hung up on.

THAT Was it. Hey no problem, That you will forget Obvious Things happens.

But I forgot about the Sheepy Horn! Ouch that hadda hurt.

And you don't really get 'hung up on' but Ron's gotta clear that line ASAP. That's MY Rationalization, anyway!!!

Oh man: JUST as I type This Ron is saying on air to a caller: "Ok, This is NOT where we wanted to go with this at ALL..." and moved on. It's a call-in contest about if youve ever been accused of being gay.

I agree - it is painful sometimes. Hey, at least R&F know when to pull the plug now, and feel comfortable enough in doing it.

On a positive note, I am encouraged with the many different kind of callers into the show! It's pretty cool, and I think speaks volumes of their appeal.

During the "do people think you're gay?" contest, there were (of course) a lot of the regular kind of guys that call radio stations, but also there was the lesbian, and the black guy, and people of all sorts of different age groups. Pretty cool, even if many of them ramble through their stories.

HEY! You never hear me call, unless it's during a "pyramid" and I can say what I called to say, and cut and run!

Hey MikeyBoy and BoneDaddy were on-air tonight; they did a segment about Movies that are great but few people have seen, and they sounded ten times better then I ever did. Nice!

One of the things I like about Ron and Fez is that they don't humilate people who screw up. Ron doesn't sit there and berate someone because they freeze or go of topic like other shows.

Ron may dismiss someone with a quick one liner and then move on to the next caller, but he is not into name calling which is nice.

The guys need to bring back the "Stupid Girl" drop for the women (and even the guys) who have absolutely no point to their call.

"Remember?
"No?
"I had on a black mini skirt and white blouse and a black vest that Ronnie liked, remember now?
"No?
"I had my hair long back then, I've cut it since to shoulder length, I know, I know, Ronnie, you said not to cut it, but I cut it anyway over at my girlfriend Marie's house. Marie was there, she had on the boots.
"Y'know, those boots. She got-em at, like Hecht's real cheap and like I , like wish I had a pair..."

I swear sometimes I can feel R&Fs frustration seeping through the speakers when some callers babble on and on. Sometimes I listen closely to see if I can hear them banging their heads on the table. Having your momentum derailed like that must really suck.

Yeah, you DC guys have got to learn to get to the point. Maybe Ron adn Fez should bring back the "See yuhs" at the end of each call. In NYC it seemed to motivate people to be done with their calls so they could yell it out.

Seee yuuhhhh.

Ron: Are they lifeguards or lifepussies?!?!

I agree completly. Last night was the first time I listened in a week, and I was banging on my desk yelling "GET TO THE POINT".
and I thought card #s wasted time. I obviously have never heard DC radio.

The whole DC show is slower, and it seems like the audience is just as content to try drag it down. Ugh.

There's no sense in telling me
The wisdom of a fool won't set you free
But that's the way that it goes
And it's what nobody knows
While every day my confusion grows
Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment
You'll say the words that I can't say

I'm not nearly old school enough to be New Order. I'm going to have to be the cover version by Frente.

Love will tear us apart...again.

Actually,that's Joy Division. Same difference.

I think that the D.C. callers are getting better. I thought they really sucked at first, but I feel that the show has been recapturing its energy.

See Ya!

I have to agree. Maybe it's just something about the D.C. callers, but they are all like watching old people screw: slow and painful. We tri-state callers got to the point: B.A. Number, Billy Joke, Punch out...1,2,3!

Maybe they're just not used to the pace, or
perhaps they are just a lil too close to West Virginia, but c'mon callers! You've had all this time with the boys that us NY/NJ buddays have missed! Don't ROOON it! Speed it up a tad!
